If I may condense, your answer basically boils down to a well known concept: self-interest.
You have a self-interest in protecting the well being of your family, to keep them safe, to keep them under protective shelter, and to preserve the security of your land and, ultimately, country.
The important follow-up question with regards to self interest is whether you would respect the rights of others to do the same?

I'm not saying you deny it. I'm asking if you think it makes sense that the blockade is in place considering these ships have been used to transport weapons in the past.

I think it has been pretty well established that the weapons being transported in would be exactly what would happen.
You have rocket attacks from the Gaza Strip, as well as shipments proven to carry weapons destined for Gaza.
I don't understand what kind of other 'proof' people need before they realize that Israel HAS to blockade Gaza for the protection of their own citizens.

I don't read anyone that objects to Israel's right to use the blockade to keep the shipments free of weapons. I certainly don't, and past instances of ships trying to bring in weapons is justification to maintain the blockade to curb weapons.
But the blockade as it is now is well beyond a weapons blockade.

How do you figure? Ist his because of the seemingly randomness acceptable food list? Put it this way, they tried to smuggle in weapons, so Israeli created a list of what is allowed. They made the list short and easy, so that it is enforceable and easily monitored. No grey areas. Also, as long as the people support Hamas, they should expect a long, not enjoyable and rather unpleasent blockade. In fact, the blockade still provides for health care, education and other items, things that any other group launching rockets would not enjoy.

Is it really any surprise?
Israel is used as a scapegoat by most Arab nations to distract their population while they rape them of their civil and human rights. It's all about power and money...

You're right, they could have just sunk it like the North Koreans did to South Korea, it would have saved them stepping on the ship.

Sure, if you treat each particular issue/incident on its merits. If you are automatically anti-Israel (see longsuffering) or the sort that protests against Israeli speakers at your university, I would suggest you are probably an anti-semite, polite or otherwise...

In my opinion the blockade has been a failure. Weapons and materials flow into Gaza from Egypt through underground tunnels. Israel has imposed the blockade mostly to pressure the citizens of Gaza to turn their backs on Hamas.

What next if the blockade is a failure? I don't know if it has worked, basically Israel has slowed down rocket attacks, but have not stopped them. If there is a break, that allows Israel to offer concessions (less restrictions on allowed food items), which Hamas does not want. So Hamas will fire just enough rockets to keep their people in misery. Pretty sad.

I would. Initially there was great controversy over exactly what weapons the "demonstrators" were armed with. They cropped out a weapon. It was a knife that was clearly not any kind of kitchen knife either.

You are not terribly observant. He commented that Israel was the ONLY country protested against yet it is far MORE PRO-gay than any of their neighbors. You would think on a gay pride parade that the topic would be about anti-gay bigotry. What does the Israeli -Palestinian conflict have anything to do with it? Yet the focus on the only pro-gay country in the ME. Why not Saudi Arabia?
Hmmmm.

I am sure everyone will join me and condemning the Turks and their continuous illegal war against the Kurds and depriving them of their homeland.
