What about me, I wear my sunglasses at night, so I can, so I can...

2 people getting a tinted window ticket does not constitute a crackdown.

2 people getting a tinted window ticket at the end of the month do not constitute a ticket quota.

I was on Stoney yesterday and saw three different cops ticketing people in a 1 km stretch between Sarcee and Beddington. My Valentine One radar detector also confirmed three "bogies." As if they don't do a month-end push.

Civic is the most common car on the road, the same could be said for any group of people. Especially at that age, where it's a logical economical choice.
Did you also notice, that all of the non gangsters in your school also drove Civics?

A pal of mine is a cop. He has told me on a few occasions that police don't have "quotas", they have "targets" that are not set as a requirement. However, it is heavily frowned upon if you don't hit your "targets" for the month.

There are a few spots in the city that I believe are referred to as "honey pots" or some stupid thing, because you can hit your month target in one day because of the road set up.

Possible additional suppositions:

- people living near Sarcee and Beddington are total rife raff and more prone to breaking the law
- people simply pay attention to police activity near month end
- there are more donut stores along Sarcee and Beddington
- crime rates along Sarcee and Beddington are higher than normal and have been targetted for higher police presence
- people tend to speed/stunt/shoot random people more than usual along Sarcee and Beddington
- people along Sarcee and Beddington are disliked and specifically targetted by the police
- there is an IKEA store near Sarcee and Beddington, such good deals that they need speed away! (Winter sales started again with the snowfall)

I just got a nice $57.00 ticket for front window tint while driving to Banff.....The peace officer said I caught his eye because he had never seen this type of car before.....then he pulled me over, checked the window and gave me a ticket....He said the reasoning was that the glass would not shatter properly in a rollover....I disagree with that, the window will still break, just the window film may hold it together....nothing that a person couldnt just push out of the way if need be.....
oh well, the rules are the rules......

What kind of car if you don't mind me asking?

That has to suck. "I pulled you over because your car is cool. Oh, and here's a tint ticket".

Given the unbelievable presence on weekends lately, I'd have to say southbound Deerfoot between Barlow and 130th is their favorite spot.

I'm glad they're doing a "crackdown" on window tinting! Man does it ever piss me off when someone pulls an idiot maneuver in front of me and when I pull beside them to give them the "you're such a freakin' idiot" look I can't even make eye contact because of their windows tinting...

As a side note, most idiot maneuvers seem to be performed by idiots driving behind tinted windows... coincidence?

They blitz the stretch between Barlow and 130th - either way - rather frequently. That said, given people like to do 120+ in that area, and the fact that there are multiple spots where people are maintaining memorials for people who have died, that is definitely a good thing.

So tinted windows reduces road rage?

You could make an argument that one would be more inclined to drive like a moron if their windows are heavily tinted. Not a strong one, but there's probably a connection there.

i have a friend of a pal who was roommates of a guy that played a cop on a canceled tv show.

he said that they do not have "quotas" or "targets", either...just "a number of tickets they need to issue" for the month.
