Just got out of the hospital....
Well early Friday morning while in bed I started to feel like complete garbage. I felt like I had to poo or burp. The Pain was horrific, Needless to say I didn't have to do either. I went to the kitchen and drank a bit of water and tried to eat a piece of bread to calm my stomach. The pain didn't go away and as I was walking back to the bedroom I collapsed in pain no longer being able to walk. I crawled to the bed and woke up the fiance at around 4 am. At this point I couldn't breathe. I had tingling in my arms, legs and I was having a hard time seeing. I didn't know what the hell was going wrong.
So the fiance called her dad (dean of School of Social Work at bama) and he rushed to the house as I was in the front yard crippled and crying thriving in pain not being able to breathe.
We get to the ER and the give me Morphine, and an IV. So they take me up and get a sonogram and take me to my room. The doctor from India was a complete dick. He thought that I was just making all of this up and treated me like garbage until he went and found out I was full of Gaul stone (sp). came back about 3 hours later and told me that he was going to have a surgeon consult me. Well about 5 or 6 pm (after being in my room for at least 6 hours at this time) the nurse comes in to give me more morphine and a new bag. I asked if I could eat since I haven't ate since 9 pm on thursday night and I was starving.
Well they wouldn't let me eat and told me that the surgeon just walked by my room and asked if he stopped in. Well he didn't I ended up staying the night drugged up out of my mind ( I don't like painkillers) and finally the Indian doctor shows up this morning and tells me that the surgeon didn't come in or basically denied to see me because I don't have health insurance. (WTF) I was like he denied talking to me because I don't have Insurance? If I were an Illegal he would of cut me open and fixed me and just sent the bill to the government. Well then Jim walked in and being part of the Pediatric medical board along with the dean the Indian doctor asked who he was and well his tone totally changed along with everyone else in the hospital.
Well they found a new surgeon and I have to go in tuesday for a consult and get these things out of me. I'm not happy what so ever. I lost 2 days of work and starved for nothing. I was drugged and feel like poo because of it and I'm still in pain.
I am so against suing a hospital but I am really really looking at my options about this.
My stomach well more the part right under my rib cage is killing me. It feels like I have a 300 lb man just standing on it. I feel loopy from the drugs and I'm just not happy.
What should I do?
Oh, The nurse botched my IV. Put it in the arm wrong. Going from someone that has had all kinds of broken bones and crap I am scared to death of needles....

My dad has his gall bladder taken out about 25 years ago, wasn't the end of the world. It was a much more major operation back then too, should be a piece of cake now.
Until then make sure you stay away from fatty foods and meats. My dad had to eat fish and vegetables for a month or two so he wouldn't have the gall stone attacks while waiting for surgery.

I know I'm not going to die. But if I go in and they end up taking out my gall bladder instead of the stones and they just couldn't do it on saturday (memorial day weekend here) I'm going to be pissed.
I missed 2 days of work possibly 3 that's $200.... I can't afford to take much time off as it is... Since I want to go to Calgary this winter for my first game at the dome.

I don't eat sea food. Can't stand it. The first thing I did when I got home is ate the rest of my dreamland BBQ that was in the fridge. I'm still pretty high on morphine at the moment.
Good news is folks I go in to find out if I have ADHD and that should help out the readability of my posts.

Does it matter where the Doctor is from to describe the story? Doctor and Surgeon would have worked just fine.

Can you go to your regular physician and let him/her know what you've been through already? Someone needs to determine if you need your gall stones removed or if you can live with them. If you can't live with them, can you just have the stones laser blasted or do you need your gall bladder removed?
I've been through what you describe (however your pain level seems significantly higher than mine) about 10 years ago. Both my regular physician and the radiologist, who detected the size and location of my gall stones, told me I would need surgery. When I met with the surgeon he explained that the only surgery would be gall bladder removal because of the size of the stones. Because my pain wasn't that bad, I was able to modify my diet and live with my gallstones without any problems at all. It was important, however, that it was determined through blood tests, ultrasounds and abdominal x-rays, that my bile duct area was unaffected by my gallstones and that's why it was OK for me to try and live with them.
At any rate, after this much time spent in the hospital you should have more answers than questions. Whether you're insured or not, tests were performed and you need to be persistant and get answers as to what your exact situation is at this point. Then you can decide how you want to handle it.

Move to Canada? My dad had this. He's the kind of guy who would try to just deal with any kind of pain and never show it but this totally put him on the floor.
Went to the hospital in the middle of the night and it got taken care of.
No bills, no insurance issues.
I hesitate to ask how much all that morphine cost you down in the U.S.

well they have an out patient deal like having your knee scoped and go in and get them.
this is the same hospital that when the future father in law was told that he had spinal stenosis ( remember he is a big wig at the university) that the only way to fix it is to put a medal rod in his spine.

Well if an Indian doctor is there , I am guessing he might be Native American. Here in Oklahoma the Indians get all their medical for free but they have to go to certain places to get it . PIM is this the case there? Will they do your surgery for free ?

I think it was $70/shot so at 5 of them $350 in just pain meds.
I feel like crap right now.

I couldn't pronounce his name. It was something completely odd and the best way was describing him as that. Sorry if I offended anyone.

It is kinda sad that the doctors are more interested in making more money than helping people.

I say that every single day. Except about people in general, not doctors.
