Do you need to find/purchase a shovel for all this treasure hunting? Or do you just need to locate the treasure and it autodigs for you?
I found the 1st treasure, by the tree with the noose but wasn't sure if I could get at it...

No shovel required. Just go to the right place and there will be a pile of stones you remove by hand.

Oh yeah, and for people having trouble finding the Del Lobo or whatever treasure, just go to the general store and buy all the maps. Then go to your satchel and click on them to make all the locations appear on your in-game map. That way you don't need to pull out the hard copy map that came with the game.

ya i finally figured it out. i got the 3rd treasure too, it's at a place called Tumbleweed in the basement of a ruined mansion. you have to kill a bunch of bandits to get to it though
i conquered that place last night as i was going around collecting plants for a stranger task... however, since i don't have the map, i must not have been able to 'see' the treasure. i walked all over that house just hoping i would find something cool, but couldnt see anything that i could interact with.
i did however get treasure map #2 i believe. i am way too awful at this to know what i am doing though!
No, I thought it was too, but you know where you're at the camp. Right there go to your map and look at the image, you'll see those 2 split rocks, now get out of the map and look to the edge of the rock you'll see the exact same split rocks. There is a path you can take to go down, and the treasure is along the path.
It’s on a ledge too - if you reach the very bottom near the shore, you’ve gone way too far. It took me a few attempts to actually locate it. if you aren’t careful, you will slide too far down the face of the slope.

I didn’t. There was a gunfight going on at the settlement nearby, with a sheriff in need of help, but the mansion itself was empty for me.
Thanks to you guys, I bought this game today. Can't wait to play it tonight.

The map shows a picture of some cellar doors on the side of the mansion and a picture of an area in the cellar with a skull and the treasure at the base of it. Pretty easy to find but you need the treasure map for sure.

Reading all this makes me want to play the game even more. I was hoping it would come in today but it looks like I wont get it until Tuesday because of the long weekend. Blah
you can apparently get the maps out of order. i just happened to be riding around and found some treasure hunter that was getting murdered by bandits. when i went back to loot him, i found map #2. yet i have no idea how to get map #1 or anything else. i stumbled into it by luck, so apparently they don't have to be in order.
