Doing x stretch on rest days can help with yoga flexibility.
And you need plyo. It kicks your ass 10x more than kenpo. You can still get a good sweat from kenpo if you don't half ass it(some people add leg/arm wieghts). But mainly it's a light workout while your body recovers from the week that also helps flexibility.

Heh. I did a Kenpo workout tonight outside in my backyard. So nice with the light breeze and warm weather. Pretty sure will do X Stretch outdoors tomorrow too! I'm rounding the corner and about to start my last week of P90x and I'd like to try out Insanity next, hopefully outside!

Hrm, I was afraid I'd hear that. Anyone else in an apartment building? Neighbours complain about the jumping around?
I'll have to give it a try and see how it goes. Hopefully won't be too loud.

I've done it in an apartment before, and no complaints.
Tony emphasizes about landing soft, to lessen the impact on your joints. Doing it in an apartment will help to maintain your focus about landing softly and doing the exercises properly. Might be good in the long run.
Agreed that Kenpo doesn't even compare to Pylo. If you want the best workout you need the Pylo.

I am still going strong (relatively). Just finished my second phase and will be starting phase 3 today. I didn't feel like doing Yoga yesterday so I went for an 8 mile run. The "diet" hasn't been so great lately but I will try and have a good last 30 days here and hopefully shed some more fat. Arms and shoulders have defintely gotten bigger though.

Good to hear you're still going strong RS!
I quit after week 4 unfortunately this go around. I got pretty sick and I'm still feeling the effects 4 weeks later. I'm still not 100%.
I am beginning to think that this program in conjunction with my diet is not sufficient enough for me. It has become a recurring trend for me to get sick while doing p90x. I couldn't push through this last time.
I have a feeling my diet isn't enough to sustain the extreme physical activity the program puts you through, so I will have to re evaluate that and once I get that figured out, I can try again.
Right now ive been playing hockey, keeping the cardio up, but no weights.

I do the YogaX, the stretching and the plyometrics routines, the Yoga I especailly like on a Sunday cause I get my workout in without having to leave the house.
I do traditional yoga as well and I find the first 45 min of yogaX to be good for building functional strength with yoga postures. The last half has a few pretty advanced postures that you have to work up to but overall I find it very good.

hey no_joke
i went thru p90x twice and loved it, then got a really bad high ankle sprain this past january and had to be mellow for a couple of months (stupid slow healing ankle...but at least when i sprained my ankle i made a kipper-esk save and my team held on to win the hockey game! ha! ha!).
anyways, in late april i started insanity - it's totally fun - i really like it. prepare to sweat - there's tons of cardio and core work.
i'm thinking once i'm done insanity i'll go back to p90x, then after p90x go back to insanity - sort of flip-flop the programs becuz i enjoy both so much.

I am starting up a new round in the next month, have been avoiding P90x in the winter months because I end up getting real sick likely because I'm physically exhausted doing this program.
Can I ask what is the Insanity program and where do you get it?

Alright, you've convinced me. I'm ditching the other programs I was going with and starting up p90x. Probably going to do some introductory stuff today and see how it goes.
90 days takes me roughly to the start of hockey season. I guess I'll have to walk the walk now instead of just always telling people its a great program.

I'm on week 3 right now. I've seen some gains already. I'll probably post some before and after pictures at the end of the program

Normally, I can just barely reach my toes. After yoga X, I can wrap my palms around my heels.

If you get physically exhausted from P90x I wouldn't touch Insanity.

Well first month is always rough on P90x for me, the adjustment. Looking at the Insanity program it doesn't really suit me as I'm not looking to drop weight, with P90x I can work with it to actually help build muscle versus Insanity which looks like cardio from hell.

I have never really been able to touch my toes before. I am fairly fit and exercise regularly but stretching was never really a big part of my regime. After yoga I feel like my back is the strongest it has ever been and I am much more flexible.

You can also try cardio x for a bit. Not nearly as much jumping as in plyo(more of a mix of all the cardio exercises) however it's less intense.

I did the cardio one today just too see how it is. Pretty good. Really got a sweat worked up, HR up, moving around a lot. Towards the end I had to stop short a few times as I couldn't keep up.
I do think he could have used a few better exercises though. Some of them were simply variations of a different exercise that is actually better.
Like the squat runner one. IMO you'd be better off doing mountain climbers.
But hey, it works. I still think its a great program. Not necessarily because of content, but because its the first program that has a schedule with it and focuses on nutrition too.

Did legs/back today and then jumped over to plyometrics to see what both of them are about.
I'm beat. I've always had a problem doing pullups for time. I can manage 3-4 at once, but after that I'm beat.
There is a pretty cool spreadsheet out there that makes it really easy to input all your data and stuff. Once I get organized I'll start the program right.
I keep looking at my barbell though.
