He was the most dominating defensive rookie this year, nobody was even close to him in my opinion,
I owuld say Matthews was close, but he didnt get the starts until later in the season and i am not taking away from Cushing as the winner either because he deserved it, but both those guys were lights out as rookies...and teammates on maybe the best LB core in CFB history.

Some seriously good values in there. The Ravens is one that jumps out at me. Tennessee as a longshot.

Interesting to see the Packers and Vikes at the same number.

The guy making the allegations is apparently the same guy who (as an FBI Agent) helped take down the 4 time Louisiana governor (Edwin Edwards) for gambling/casino issues, and by extension also took down Eddie DeBartolo, 49ers owner at the time. He has a fair bit of credibility.

Baltimore and Green Bay stand out as decent bets to me. For a longer shot I like the Niners at 30-1. If they can get that offence to produce at a reasonable level they're in a winnable Division, and have a schedule where they could get home field games till the Conference title game.

I guess I was wrong about Cushing although the vote was closer the second time thru...but close means nothing.

I'm surprised to see the Eagles and Steelers ranked as high as they are. I think both are going to be in tough to even make the playoffs.

Bit early, but I dont want to start a fantasy thread yet until the season gets a bit closer.

Thoughts on this trade (dynasty league, 16teams, 5 keepr max, 1/2 ppr). you lose a pick for every protected player (eg. 1 protected, lose 1st rd)...most guys keep 3 - 5.

My team: Flacco / Welker / R Wayne / D Clark / CJ / Jamaal Charles as possible keepers

Trade: J Charles + 7th rd (116th) for S. Smith (NYG) + 6th (96th)

Manningham is a bit of a threat and entering his 3rd year, but I love JC but the KC offense is awful.

^ Yeah with Welker and Wayne as your WR keepers, I would keep J. Charles.

Well the Chiefs offence will be much better next year for the simple reason that they won't be tying to change phillosophy and co-ordinators right before the season. The Chiefs last off season was pretty dramatic in terms of how many changes were made from the previous regime. The Chiefs were actually middle of the NFL in their last 8 games last year once they got into sync with their offence. 32 sacks against in the first 8 games and 13 in the last 8, and their rushing yards were top 10 in those final 8 games.

But with Charles I think they're not going to increase his work load. They added Thomas Jones who'll shoulder a few carry's and likely be a goal line banger to get into the end zone. They also drafted Dexter McCluster who'll get a few touches too. So I don't anticpate that Charles is going to see a dramatic increase in his number of touches next year. I think the Chiefs know he's fumble prone, and not all that big so they don't want to over work him. So I wouldn't anticipate Charles putting up better fantasy numbers next season than what he did this past one.

Damn good point Syl, forgot Chiefs signed Thomas Jones and drafted McCluster. I take back what I said... get Smith.

Problem is I dont know if I'd even keep Welker this year. He's coming off ACL + shoulder surgery. Apparently he's running, but he's likely going to start on the PUP and miss the first 6 weeks minimum.

I cant really justify keeping him for the last half of a season (loss of a draft pick). But I would certainly take him with an 8 - 10th rd pick.

RIP Norman Hand aka Big Wiggle, who passed today at only 37 years of age. He had some solid seasons as a Saints DT.

Wow, hadn't heard about that yet. RIP. I remember back in the early Haz era when him and Grady Jackson were the Heavy Lunch Bunch. Those were a couple big boys up the middle.

Peter King of SI rolls out his first pre-season ranking. He has Green bay as #1...I think he huffed some glue.

He has the 'Hawks at 11, he really must be huffing glue .

If the 'Hawks took the division and had a playoff game I might be beside myself, personally I don't think they will take the division, it will go to the 49ers. Seahawks will have 5-8 wins, somewhere in that range more likely lower than higher.

I love pre training camp rankings. They are based on nothing, especially considering he had the Saints in the low 20's in last years rankings.

Even if the Vikings have to go with Tavares Jackson I think they'll still be one of the NFC's playoff teams. Even with a below average QB that's still a 10 win team.

Although one of these teams that was terrible last year will end up being pretty good and one good team will end up pretty bad.

Arizona's taking a step back with no other divisional rival making many advances, and SEA still has an easy schedule. Last year with some luck, they could've had 2 more (7) wins, as bad as they played and looked.

I think the division is realistic, as is 9 wins. Carroll by all accounts has brought in a good staff and good additions, and re-energized the exsisting roster players (most importantly Hasslebeck) and brought in a system that by itself is good for a win or two over the performances last year, let alone the new attitude and talent brought in.

Looking at their schedule, even though it is one of the easiest ranked ones in the NFL, I still don't see more then 8 wins. Seahawks have been terrible on the road over the last couple of years.

49ers ------W
@ Broncos -L
Chargers ---L
@ Rams ----W
bye
@ Bears ---L
Cards -----W
@ Raiders --L
Giants -----L
@ Cards ---L
@ Saints ---L
Chiefs -----W
Panthers ---W
@ 49ers ---L
Falcons ----L
@ Bucs ----L
Rams ------W

I think they split with the Cards and the 49ers and sweep the Rams. I could also see them winning against the Broncos (though that is a tough stadium to play in) and the Raiders. They lose to the Bucs because Seahawks have been atrocious on the road and that is pretty much the furthest they can travel to play that game. So it a 5-8 win schedule but I believe they will be much more competitive and will not get blown out and embarrassed like last year.

Love Carroll, I think they are a playoff team in 2011. I like Hasselbeck as a person, and I defended him all of last year because our offensive line was terrible but I don't see him in the future plans of the team and I'm quite surprised they didn't trade him before the draft. I'm still confused as to why they payed so much for Whitehurst only to get him on a two year deal and keep Matt.

They need to find out ASAP if Whitehurst can be a starter and with Matt's age, and he isn't a Favre or Warner, I don't see Matt playing too much longer. We're also missing a DE and I've been reading the blogs at seahawks.com they have been rotating guys in and out, and they are thinking of putting Red Bryant in at RDE which is a bit of a concern to me.

Love the LBs with Curry (look for him to have a breakout year) being put at the strong side, Tatupu in the middle and Hawthorne on the weak side, I think they will do really well, Leroy Hill is probably going to be disciplined by the NFL and is potentially going to jail as a breach of probation on his drug charges in Georgia, who knows how long he will be out.

I could write forever, there's a lot to be excited about if you're a 'Hawks fan, my 5-8 prediction seems pessimistic but I have high hopes for the team, I just think they will experience problems growing together as a team this year with a lot of rookie and sophomore players.

I managed to pick up two more season tickets this year, been planning which games I'm going to with friends, I can't wait to see some Seahawks football, still so far away!
