sucks big time as they will most likely miss seeing Halladay pitch.

The Jays have coasted playing a butter soft schedule so far.

It will be interesting to see if they can keep it up once they play the good teams in the AL.

The fact that nobody can hit on their team does not bode well for them.

I guess since they have played the AL Central and AL West they must be "butter soft". Jays for sure will have to play allot more games against the AL East (Specifically Yankees and Rays).

Fact is this is a rebuilding year, its nice to see them play well and if they finish with ~ 75 wins that would be a really good season.

Camp has been really good this season, he has made 14 appearances, logged over 16 innings and has a ERA of 3.31.

I don't get it. Nobody is saying that they are going to win the World Series, playoffs or anything of the sort. Everyone here is realistic, and honestly, as noted below by flambers, are really just enjoying this season - even if they stink this year they just seem a bit more fun to watch. But continue to point out all the faults...

They haven't played the Tigers or Twins the top teams in the Central and have yet to play the Yankees. So yes I would say that the schedule has been very easy so far and will be tough from here on out.

I already stated in this thread that people have been realistic and didn't say anything about people thinking the team is going to win the World Series so not sure why you are so defensive about that.

What faults did I point out?

I said it would be interesting to see if the team could keep up their solid play when they face the tougher competition, especially since they have struggled to hit so far.

Wouldn't part of enjoying this season involve seeing if the young pitching is able to keep it up against the top teams and carry the team for the season?

I'm going to use the ignore feature for the first time, pretty obvious who the ignore is being turned on for.

Bam, it works!

This post was pretty reasonable to me. Basically saying to wait and see. When Moon posts something reasonable people skew it and make it something extremely negative.

Certainly his second post wasnt enough to warrant someone to Ignore him.

I agree with him that you can not judge the season until they have played the Rays, Sox, Yankees, Tigers and Twins more.

Fair enough Moon. Its just that, like I have said, most people generally know the above, and have heard it a lot (from various sources - tv, podcasts, etc). It is just nice not to have some posts of "yeah, well, its because of A and B they have an ok record", or "let's see when they play so and so", etc. That's all.

Didn't mean for it to come across as they have the record they have because of A and B but more it will be interesting to see if the young pitchers can keep it up with the increase in competition and likely not a ton of help from the hitters.

Contrary to popular belief I do not hate the Jays and hope they do well this year and in the future.

Sure, but the fact is a win is a win, who cares who the Jays have played. They have started the season much better than I would have guessed.

I am looking forward to the games against the Tigers or Twins or Yankees (they have played Red Sox 5 times, 6th game is underway).

In other news, below is another rumour or specualation.....

"Adonis Cardona Close To Agreement With Blue Jays

By Ben Nicholson-Smith [May 12 at 11:34am CST]

MONDAY, 10:00pm: The Blue Jays are close to signing Venezuelan righty Adonis Cardona, according to ESPN.com's Keith Law. The prospect can't officially sign with the Blue Jays until the July 2nd signing period opens. The terms of the deal aren't clear, but some July 2 free agents do sign seven figure deals. As Law points out, such early agreements do not always hold up."

Marcum pitched a gem today. Snider with his 5th bomb of the year. Quick game today.

Why are the Red Sox allowed to argue balls and strikes?

That's a quick and easy ejection for most umps.

Marcum has pitched too well this year to have had only one win. Even two wins doesn't do him much justice.

For a man that has missed the past year, Marcum sure has his control down to a T. Guy has been spot on so far this year, and for a guy that maybe bumps 90 at times, does well with his cutter and change. Good game by Marcum, good way to get one out of Beantown.
