Okay. I don't know if this belongs in this thread, the iPhone/iPod thread or in a new thread. But I'll try here.

Down in Phoenix, I synced my iPad with my Dell laptop. That was fine and dandy. I loaded my music, my videos, my apps, etc, etc, etc.. I have the exact same library of stuff on my G5 desktop. Now I added 8 episodes of E.R. to the G5, so I synced with the G5 to add the 8 episodes, and it erased the iPad and re-synced everything. It takes about an hour to resync EVERYTHING, but it should have just taken a couple minutes to add the 8 episodes of E.R..

If I am syncing with another computer, does it NEED to erase and re-write EVERYTHING?

For iPhones/iPods in iTunes you need to select "Manually Manage music and videos" etc in order for it not to erase what was previously synced...

Not sure if it's there on iPad's, but it should be. It will be on the main iPad page in your iTunes.

yes and no. In my opinion itunes' greatest fault is that you cannot sync with more than 1 computer (it'll keep erasing each time you switch). There is however a way around it that will let you sync on two computers. I'll go find the link.

Edit: here it is -->

More fun from Gizmodo

In a future full of iPads, iPhone OS 4, next-gen iPhones, and iPod Touches with cameras (plus whatever Gray Powell leaves at a German beer joint next week), a significant portion of your tech life will likely bear an Apple logo—and keep Steve Jobs in the finest stonewashed jeans regionally available. The question isn't, "Do you use Apple devices," but "Which one?" And "Where?" Here's a cut-out-and-keep cheat sheet.

Nice dig by Gizmodo there. The more I think about the more pissed off I get at what they did to Powell last week.

I'm quite surprised how much I use it compared to how much I thought I would use it. After having it for a couple of weeks now, typing is a breeze I don't need an external keyboard at all.

Get the one you're actually going to use. I bought keynote and pages. I've used keynote to demo the iPad to my boss but haven't even opened pages yet. I'm sure I will eventually but I probably could have waited.

I'm so damn excited for numbers. I'm going to create the mother of all geeky sushi spreadsheets that includes all items, quantities and prices from my favorite sushi restaurants around the city. Something about always having that within reach seems overly necessary. I'm the kind of person that upon making plans to go out for sushi spends the afternoon debating the layout of the meal. Not quite sure why I do it ... I'm damaged.

Just got to try an iPad that a co-worker obtained from the states. I think its going to be a game changing device - it’ll do to a vast segment of the mobile computing space what the iPhone did to phones, which is to completely disrupt the status quo.

Has anyone read any current information on 3g availability in Canada? Are the 3g iPads likely to roll out at the same time as the availability of the wifi versions?

sclitheroe reminded me! I forgot to brag that I got to play with an iPad last week!

I went to TEDx at the UofC and there was a guy who had an iPhone app for hospitals where the computing is done in the cloud. Images are rendered on a server and sent to the iPhone, even as you scroll around or zoom in on them. It's really cool.

They're working an iPad version as well so he had one that he bought in the US and let us fool around with it a bit.

They're even lighter than I expected and the screen is gorgeous.

Everything points to same time launch, both available for preorder May 10.

I use logmein ignition quite heavily on my iphone and i've heard it's a much better experience (for obvious reasons) on the ipad.

As for 3g availability it's been said that the 3g and the wifi will be released on the same date internationally ... but then again we were told we'd also have it by the end of April.

Apple's censorship and propaganda machine is sure working hard, won't even let you view an anti iPad video...

Are most people here leaning towards the wifi or 3g versions? Now that’s I’ve seen an iPad, I’m definitely leaning towards 3g - It seems like a device I’d want to use almost anywhere, more so than an iPhone sized device.

Also, I had no idea Apple is advertising 9 hours of battery life for 3g web browsing, compared to 10 hours on wifi - considering their published numbers have been accurate so far, that bodes really well for the 3g version’s battery life.
