Banff Springs Golf Course

I'm playing there in May for the first time.

Has anyone here played the course? And if so, what were your experiences like? What is it like in comparison to Kananaskis, both in difficulty and overall experience?

Green fees before May 30th are $149, including cart and range/practice area obviously. Somewhat steep I suppose but hopefully it's worth it.

Played it on Tiger Wood 10.

Course is super easy. Choke up on Devil's Cauldron.

Enjoy the Cauldron its one of the most fun driving holes that you'll ever play.

Watch out for wildlife which seems to think the course is theirs.

And watch out for stupid tourists who wander into the fairway to take pictures of said wild life.

Kananaskis gets the nod in terms of course design, though Banff has its share of great holes. Scenery is better at Banff. Overall value is Kananaskis by a landslide.

Banff does completely own Kan in one respect (though some would say its a disadvantage) - they don't have the Gestapo like marshalls like Kananaskis does whipping you for being 2 minutes behind the pace. (a ball marker, wheee!) Completely sucks any sense of enjoyment out of a day in the mountains when all you can think about are ways to maim the marshall.

Yeah that last part you wrote is a big one for me. I hate being rushed and I hate a Marshall telling me to hurry up when I'm waiting for the group ahead of me on every hole. That was definitely my one complaint about Kananaskis.

Played it about 20 times, nice course but not great,if your a 10 or under you should handle it ok, fairly wide fairways and the greens are mostly very flat. Over a 10 and you'll find it a good challenge,It's long and the fairway bunkers can be a bitch with the high lips (and watch out for the elk that like to lay in them)

They don't take care of it like they use too so I would say it's only a $90.00 course anywhere else but it's...Banff afterall.

It's ok to waste a few bucks but you probably will only do it once.

You might also want to consider playing Stewart Creek or Silvertip in Canmore. IMO, both of those courses are nicer than Banff Springs and Stewart Creek is only around $80.

$86 to play Kananaskis is far better value than Banff Springs at $149 ($219 starting May 31).

Stewart Creek is $145 until May 31 and $195 after.

Silvertip is $125 until May 30 and $175 after.

But I didn't know Tiger Woods '10 had the Banff Springs course in it. I'll have to check it out.

I actually like Innisfail Golf Club. Pretty good value for $85.

I golfed at Kananaskis 12 times last year.

Wow, I spent more than $1000 on golfing there. Wow. Maybe that is where my retirement money is going

Dude, golf is expensive in Calgary! Cheaper than Toronto, but damn! I like living in a mini city. Top courses around here like Forest City are $75 with full range and practise facility access, cart w/GPS etc.

My newest favourite course as of last year is the old course at Wolf Creek.... bit of a drive but definetely worth it. $102.50 to play the old course with a cart, make sure you request the old course though.

Meh, you get exercise and enjoy the outdoors. It's worth it.
