Where to buy furniture

So I'm moving into a new place in a month or so and need to buy furniture. Looking for someplace that has good quality at an affordable price and don't want to get everything from Ikea. Any suggestions?

I've found Ashley furniture to be okay for mid level price/quality.

Sears often has good sales, as well as costco (online).

Heard some Horror stories about Ashley's customer service if something goes wrong. Costco and Ikea are the ones I would use

Search for certain brands/stores on kijijji. My girlfriend checks for all the trendy places on there and usually finds pretty good deals on stuff in mint condition. You'll save a ton of money versus retail, which on furniture is an effing rip off.

We bought living room set from Ashleys 2 years ago. We are on our 3rd replacement from warranty. Every time we go in, we are very careful to pick something that isn't garbage, but it always dies really quick.

I am convinced the quality of the product in the showroom isn't anything close to what you get when you order.

If you do decide to go with them, make sure you include the warranty, because there is no way the stuff you buy is lasting.

The Brick Clearance Center in Sunridge is pretty good. You can find some good prices there.

Why wouldn't you want to shop at Ikea. Ikea is the greatest store to have ever been started. I should go to Ikea tomorrow damn!

When I buy my house I am getting everything from Ikea.

Build quality is not that great since it's all particle board, know many people with couches that don't last. I'm fine getting cabinets, shelving, wall units, kitchen things, etc. from Ikea but not sutff I sit or sleep on.

Leon's has some decent modern looking furniture lately at half the prices of the trendy places. Don't get bonded leather though.

My bed is excellent and has lasted a lot of years. How ever, I would suggest the Brick during one of their sales.

Urban Barn, I was able to get some really nice modern stuff there. (A sectional and 2 chairs). Not the cheapest, but definitly not a rip like EQ3 etc.

The main problem with many of the bigger stores like the brick, leon's, lazy-boy etc. is their quality. The old saying you get what you pay for is usually very true at those places more so than others. The more locally owned shops tend to have better quality due to them needing to remain in business.

To compare, the brick etc are like the wal-mart of furniture. Their focus is primarily on the price point. Locally owned places like Sojourn, Bondars, Sandlewood furniture tend to focus more on quality while having lowish prices for the calibre of the pieces. Each group of shops is targeting a different market. It all depends on what exactly you're wanting out of the pieces.

Two places I avoid, and are my very last stop, due to overpricing are MacArthurs and Eisenberg's Furniture especially.

I went into Sojourn - best customer service I have gotten anywhere, for anything. 110% does exist, and you get it at Sojourn. Highly recommend a visit.

Also - Eisenberg is definitely highly/over priced. Bought a couple peices at Jacques (owned by Eisenberg) because it was exactly what I wanted and was willing to pay a premium for it. For perspective, had I opted for the option that was close to what I wanted, I probably would have saved 20% buying elsewhere. For what it's worth though, the customer service was solid, the delivery dates were met and I don't regret giving them my money.

Lastly, about The Brick....for anyone that shops there, I sincerely wish you the best, but you'll get zero sympathy if (when) there are problems. Buying furniture at The Brick is like eating at a Chinese buffet....50/50 chance you'll regret walking in.
