Default Ducks make blockbuster trade

Ducks are proud to welcome Martin St. Louis to the organization!

Well heading into the last few days of trading the Ducks GM had planned to be quiet and let the team go with the current roster. However, the team had not been able to compete with LA or MIN for most of the year so something needed to be done to have any chance of doing some damage in the playoffs.

As soon as Martin St. Louis was available, our ears perked up. He has 80 points already in the NHL, while older he brings a 72OV this year and at least the same next year. He is another 1st line player that can compliment Iginla.

Here is how the trade breaks down:
To Anaheim
Martin St. Louis

To San Jose
Evander Kane
Dustin Boyd

It definitely sucks losing Evander. However, he is in a very bad Atlanta organization and didn't have the best rookie year. We feel we have the chance to win right now while also having other blue chip prospects in the ECHL that we can rely on in Doughty, Duchene, Backlund and Schenn. St louis will fit in our cap structure next year, especially since it is likely that Chara is moved out in the summer.

Thanks to San Jose for the talks, we wish the best to Kane and Boyd in the Sharks organization.

Makes sense for both sides, Boyd being shipped out can be seen by miles away. The top tier CPHL teams are really good and the Ducks pro roster got that much better.

Sharks can wait for Kane to develop.

Give the Ducks credit for having the guts to try and add a player to help them compete with Minny and the Kings.

St. Louis' salary was going to be an issue next season so I decided to make the move now. I don't think we would have got anymore for St Louis in the summer. We look forward to having Boyd play with the Sharks next season and Kane will keep on develping in the ECHL.

I looked at St. Louis... his SIM numbers are horrible... so I did not want to touch him. Hopefully, he can improve with the Ducks.

SIM numbers can be all over the map depending on the team and the situation. Briere was awesome in Anaheim, brutal in Philly and awesome in Columbus...go figure.

This is a good trade for both sides; Ravi tends to have the balls to pull off trades most GM's wouldn't do. He also has the assets to do it as well so good job guys.

Same with Niedermayer, his stay in Philly was brutal while in Minny and Wash hes doing/did fine.

Seems like Philly is a graveyard for sim players.

Every player who I acquired pretty much had their career come to an end this season....so it could be worse.

And then there's Ovechkin... he just sucks everywhere in the SIM.
