Levant, unlike Coulter, is actually capable of reason and logic at a level higher than a chimpanzee. He's generally a complete and utter asshat on every level, but has on occasion been reasonable and, beyond that, right. See his taped confrontation with the Human Rights Comission person.
But yes, I wouldn't like to see the offspring.

I'm pretty sure Coulter plays a character, unlike Beck or Limbaugh who are actually insane.

The best thing to do is not go anywhere near where she is speaking. If she's ignored enough, she'll lose whatever influence she has. She's probably only come to Calgary because she's become irrelevant in the States.

She is as welcome here as any other moron with books to sell. Free country, right?

I remember her trashing Canada for not supporting the Iraq war saying that we were part of Vietnam so why is this any different. When the reporter said that Canada didn't support or was involved with Vietnam either she tried to change the subject. If you're going to act like a cocky American at least get your facts straight.
|
Officially Canada wasn't involved in Vietnam, but a lot of Canadians went down south to join up and fight.
IIRC that is.

Yet these two are out there championing "family values", hard work, law & order, supporting the troops, general churchiness and speaking up for "regular Americans". It's absurd.

No kidding.
You can add Hannity and a few others in there too.
I particularly love how they blast Obama and some of his 'big government' policies now, but when Bush was getting ready to sign the Patriot Act into law they were all for it.
Coulter is the definition of a partisan hack. I wish she would join Palin in the STFU corner.

Ann is kinda hot too, especially when she's shooting something with her AR15.

Seriously, for all those snarking about not wanting to go. Beyond a few dollars, what would you lose? At best you would go in and listen and come out with confirmation of your beliefs. Not sure why people always want to listen to people they agree with.
I get a kick out of people who say they hate "so and so" and in the same sentence claim they never listen to "so and so". Some dissonance going on there.

I'm 100% convinced that Coulter is either an Andy Kaufmann-esque comedian or a brilliant fraudster running the long con. She's made millions by spouting absolutely ridiculous nonsense that no sane person (even conservatives!) could possibly take seriously. I think she keeps making more and more extravagant claims to see if anyone calls her bluff and nobody ever does. One of these days she'll tire of the act and exclaim, "Gotcha!" to the camera.

What would I lose? My time and sanity. I respect her right to freedom of speech (and I think that U of Ottawa administrator is a fool for stirring up a needless hornets' nest). But why would I want to sit through a speech by someone who obviously hates this country, hates my chosen profession (public school teacher) and disrespects my religion (Judaism)?
I am a card-carrying Conservative, but I have no interest in listening to a hypocrite whose crazy views are directly proportional to how much money she makes. If I want controversy, I'll wait giddily for Sean Avery to open his mouth when the Rangers play the Leafs.
As for those who suggest throwing pies at her, grow up. Will you get respect doing that? Will you make her realize the error of her ways? No, she'd probably enjoy the attention.

Agreed. Unlike Ann, Ezra is a true activist with a goal in mind (the eradication of thought crimes). What could have been a mundane, bureaucratic incident was expertly turned into a crusade that Canadians of all political stripes can side with.

I think we covered the "we are intolerant of intolerance" last week. I don't think getting pissed off at people that preach hatred is "stupid". Maybe you do. Your prerogative.

Time yes...sanity...well you have listened to her before and hung on precariously so far. Fair enough that you don't want to go. I just wonder about some who have posted in this thread. I am sure they have never heard her speak beyond a few clips here and there yet they are sure she is a psychopath.
For example...the Rush Limbaugh syndrome. I am sure everyone who hates this guy has never heard his show. I have listened to him a few times and the labels he is given are way off base. That said I don't really care for his show. Not really interested.
