Default Pravda says that Team Canada was on PEDs

http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Olympics/2...69661-qmi.html

Sour grapes from some Russian. Somewhere in that article he even said that Russians were scared to eat because their food may have been laced with drugs.

Pravda has become the National Enquirer of Russia....they were trying to smash on Canada the entire Olympics. Starting with the accidental death of the Georgian luger which just fuelled them beyond any sense of reason.

The irony of the official propaganada arm of the Soviet Union accusing another country of cheating is hilarious

Give the guy a break... hes been fed propaganda that the KHL>NHL. When he saw the Canadians blow by the KHLers he had no choice to believe that the Canadians were on PEDs

The Russians' behavior this Olympics has been nothing short of childish and embarrassing. Between the figure skating ###### whining about losing, the lack of performance from the country as a whole, Ovechkin being a camera shoving loser and now these baseless accusations, I hope Sochi 2014 is a complete disaster.

That country is a mess... I hope the IOC learns its lesson in 2014 and never returns.

This from an "article" they published a week or so ago....

Quote:
We all know Canada has problems with the future lines drawn on Arctic maps and we all know Canada lives in the shadow of its larger neighbour to the south. The abject cruelty shown by Canadian soldiers in international conflicts is scantily referred to, as indeed is the utter incapacity of this county to host a major international event, due to its inferiority complex, born of a trauma being the skinny and weakling bro to a beefy United States and a colonial outpost to the United Kingdom, whose Queen smiles happily from Canadian postage stamps.

Maybe it is this which makes the Canadians so…retentive, or cowardly. So it is not exactly a huge surprise to have international skating experts from the four corners of the Earth criticising the decision to award the Men’s figure skating Gold medal to the US athlete Evan Lysacekv over the reigning Olympic Champion Evgeny Plushenko, whose superior performance was inexplicably ignored
What always makes me laugh at these accusations is that "Canada" has NOTHING to do with anything and the judges are from all over the world....yet this is personal and in your face stuff from the writer who seems to have a real problem with the country and cannot seperate the Olympics from the country they are held in. Weird.

That article from a week ago was written by a British "journalist" and published in Pravda.

Are the Brits and Russians trying to diminish these games so that their own games can look better in comparison?

The Russians would never do anything about it. NHL players could whine all they want from Canada, it wouldn't likely matter.

The template for undermining visiting athletes was written by the Russians in the Canada/Soviet Summit series of 1972. Playing the game wasn't the only thing Canadian players and their fans had to worry about in Moscow.

Aside from that, just point at the scoreboard - 14-3 in gold medals, one gold and one bronze in figure skating and 7-3 in a hockey game.

I worry about the Sochi games and the amount of corruption that will be running rampant throughout them in favor of the Russians.

You're too generous

Generalizations are always off base, but I've genuinely never met a Russian abroad that I didn't want to strangle with an electrical cord. I guess that has a lot to do with only the super privileged upper class having the ability to travel, but god those people are impossible to be around.

See im not sure what they can do though...every sport is administered by their respective Federations and not by Russians exclusively, and as such, Russia itself will have little influence on things other than the whole "home field" advantage, much like Canada just saw.

I have doubts that the average Ruskie is miffed at Canada for anything about these games, but moreso at their own federations/coaches/athletes/Ovechkins.

Quite a few of them have immigrated to Canada and maintained their elitist attitudes. Its laughable when the ladies are working bottom level data entry positions but carrying themselves like nobility.
