Default Closing Ceremonies Thread (5:30pm PST)

So, any expectations? Any singers you want to see?
Any suggestions for performances?

I hope they don't butcher the national anthem, although I'm not sure they sing it at the closing ceremonies.

Might as well bring out the fat Canucks singer to sing half the anthem and let the crowd sing the rest. Would be better than any made up crap

Speculation that Ovechkin is going to the flag bearer for the Russians.

I doubt any entertainers from the opening ceremonies will be in this one.

I heard the Russians won't be participating after they lost to Canada.

Interesting if true. He folded in the big game against Canada so even more pressure in 2014 assuming the NHL participates.

He has already stated he will be there regardless of what the NHL does.

Same with Malkin IIRC.

They just showed a shot inside BC Place, and it looks like they never fixed the missing leg on the torch. Are they going to pretend that was on purpose?

Thats correct. Ovechkin says he will sign in the KHL if he needs to and skip out on any NHL contract.

I'm guessing they will make it part of the ceremonies to have it raise up and get big cheers.

Why do people have such a problem with successful international recording artists from Canada?

This is the biggest stage in the world for performers right now, of course those known best across the globe will be perfoming, as they should be.

Like them or not, they have earned the spot they find themselves in.

One can always turn the channel.
