Probably because people are looking to criticize everything that he does. He hasn't been bad at all this tournament but because he isn't superman people want to jump down his throat.

If most people watched him with the homer googles they have been watching Iginla there wouldn't be near as many complaints in this tournament or this game specifically.

Good first period. My connection sucks, so what I'm seeing is slow and a bit broken, but Canada looked pretty solid to me.

icon54 Jack Johnson got in a little late hit

on Crosby, then Perry (?) threw a punch? I suspect both will get minors as refs don't like to make big impact on outcome of games, but I think in a regualr season NHL game Perry would get more of a penalty for throwing a punch, IMO

Getzlaf and (I think) Johnson exchanging some threats at the end there.

Iggy pulled off that line to end the period? Or a weird change?

This is the type of hockey I would like to see in the NHL. Fast, end to end, intense and hard hitting.

I am not convinced that if you take away the fighting, the goonery and the buffoonery, it will result in an inferior product on the ice.

Sure, just along with taking away the fighting and "goonery" make sure to stack every NHL team with super stars on every line, as well.

Rafalski trying to get his coach, Babcock a gold medal? Let the conspiracy theories begin!

It's not possible to play that way for a regular season....the playoffs are mostly like this, we haven't seen this intensity from the Flames in the past few playoffs though...

and it has nothing to do with fighting or goonery....

The main reason it's like this is because these are the best of the best. Canada's Dream Team. Nothing to do with fighting.

You're right, but you should know that Corey Perry is not above that. That's who he is...cheap and weak.

Which is a byproduct of too many teams in the NHL. I am not akin to a smaller league with more talent.

If you take away the fighting, the goonery and the buffoonery, I think you got women's hockey.

I didn't say he was bad this tournament, I thought he was brilliant in a lot of the games. Today he has been out muscled, which is usually the opposite for him, has turn-overs, etc. I fully expect him to come out flying in the 2nd though.

We knew that the hometown refs would be having an impact on this game. They've only called one of the many penalties out there, are they going to keep it up, or do you think they will study the rulebook over the intermission?

Looked to me like Perry got "hit", but I would say it was a weak hit and Perry dove.
