Does anyone know if the Beachbody chin up bar sits on top of the door trim or against it. I recently moved and my chin up bar sat on top of the door trim, but in my new place the door trim is too wide (3 inches). Can anyone recommend a chin up bar that I'll be able to use?

Any fitness store should be able to sell you one I would think. I bought one for 20 bucks at a store up here, and it is adjustable in size. You just put it in the door frame, and widen it to fit the door.

it sits on top of the door trim. also has hooks/brackets that you screw to wall just above the trim (on the back). bar assembly will rest/hook on top to the bracket, while extensions will rest against the front of the vertical door trim.

here, i found these:

You will most likely get you ass kicked for a good couple weeks unless you're in really good shape already. Have fun!

Edit: I know a little late, but a note about the chinup bar. I have one and you need to make sure your doorway is wide enough for it. The ends of the bar stick out wider than the door frame if you have a doorway that is a little narrow. If the door you plan to use it on is tucked into a corner and narrow, it may make things a little difficult as it did in my place.

I only have 3 doors I can use it in since I live in an apartment, and it doesn't work completely properly on any of the doorways unfortunately.

things you will need:

- pull-up bar or bands (you will need a place to 'loop' band for pull-up moves)
- set of weights (recommend adjustable to save space) or bands
- yoga mat

optional:

- heart rate monitor
- push-up bars
- yoga block

you should already have:

- chair
- towels
- water bottle
- plate or cardboard (for fly push-ups)
- work out clothes

you will also need nutrition items:

- food according to your type/diet plan
- supplement bars
- recovery drink

i think that is it. you can get basic equipment and supplements at any local general store (like canadian tire, wal-mart, target) or sports store. beachbody.com will also have 'p90x specific' equipment/supplements for sale.

hope that helps.

I am in a place with just two stores and they sell mostly food!

I bought the p90x, a set of tension straps, a pull up bar and some p90x powder stuff to make recovery drinks.

Will that do it?

Oh ya my food/diet while in the north is like 50% Caribou...I guess that's fairly lean meat!

you should get yourself a yoga mat. you will need it for yoga, stretching, ab workouts, etc.

other than that, looks like you are set to change your body.

I just did the plyometrics yesterday. Yikes, what a workout. The hotspot exercise has eradicated my calves.

Kenpo is easily my favorite workout.

The yoga is stupid... who does yoga for an hour and a half??? I made it to 45 minutes and stopped.

Most yoga classes in general are an hour and a half. Kenpo is a fun one but I also find it the less intense of the workouts.

Not that I remember. I have never actually done the program but watched a few videos to see what the deal was. It is basically p90x's little brother with mainly band work and cardio. It would actually probably be a good way for someone who is just starting out and doesn't want to push it too hard to start.

My copy of P90X is in the mail!

I have a long way to go, so I'm just planning on doing the best I can, everyday.

Has anyone on this board tried P90X as an alternative break from lifting weights at the gym?

I am considering taking a 3 month break from the Gym after my Mexico trip so I can give this a shot.. figured it might be a nice change of pace. Not that I am not happy with my results at the gym, but it is always good to switch it up.

Anyone here that has been working out consistently for a few years that made the switch to P90X as a break and was happy with the results?

Why is it always good to switch it up? You get better at things by doing them more often. Not by doing something else.

I meant a break away from the Gym basically. And are you being sarcastic I can't tell...?

You do the same routine every day... ?
