Default Long Beach, CA and area Restaurants...

Well, since the NY thread was out, i thought I'd give this one a shot. Were off to LA next week and would love to find a "hidden gem" that locals usually know about....

or any good place that is not to pretentious.... (we have a 1yr old)

I saw this place on an episode of Diners Drive-Ins and Dives once. It's probably worth visiting.

http://ciscoburger.com/

It's owned by Jesse James of West Coast Choppers fame. Apparantly he can often be seen eating there.

Edit: There's a kid's menu too for the little one.

Lots of fun places around Hermosa Beach.

http://abouthermosabeach.info/

When the sun sets, Hermosa Beach offers a wide variety of food and entertainment, from the legendary Lighthouse Cafe to the trendy and sexy Blue 32, and everything in between. For blues lovers, Cafe Boogaloo offers great Cajun food to go with the excellent big-name talent on the stage. If you prefer your food without music, have your pick from some 50 restaurants, serving Sushi, Italian, Thai, Mexican, and pretty much any other type of food you can think of.

There's a Ruby's Diner at the end of the pier in Huntington Beach: http://maps.google.com/maps?client=s...w&z=16&iwloc=A

A little pricey for general diner food, but a unique view.

You can also grab a frozen banana on Balboa Island in Newport Beach: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=frozen...07982&t=h&z=17

Unfortunately, no Bluth's Banana Stand.

I've been to that Ruby's Diner.

The food is nothing to write home about.

There's money in the banana stand.

I like the looks of this place for sure. Something right up our alley.

(that show is pretty good too, the wife almost throws-up on half the stuff they feature - sometimes you might as well call the show "Cardiac Arrest in 15mins or Less!"

I agree. The food always looks so tasty, but often times it's pretty much the most unhealthy food on the planet.

If you do go to this place, note the hours of operation:
  • MONDAY- FRIDAY 7AM-4PM
  • SATURDAY 8AM-4PM
  • SUNDAY 8AM-2PM
Basically only open in the morning and afternoon.

A few of my favorites from my time in Socal. You will not be diappointed.

Domanicks wasn't in the greatest neighborhood back in the day, but it's been nearly 20 years and that area has changed a lot from what I hear...mostly for the better.

I bring it up in every thread about California, but you gotta stop at Taco Loco if you find yourself driving down the Pacific Coast Highway in Laguna Beach.

http://www.yelp.com/biz/taco-loco-laguna-beach

Best fish tacos I've ever had. Plus you get to play the game where you try to ask for a fish taco without giggling like a school girl.
