Two point difference isn't that much when the scores are doubled and the old Chinese missed an entire lift!
Yes, but the old Chinese had a record short program score of 76.66 while the young Chinese scored 71.28. That's a 5.3 pt difference. The old Chinese had some deductions in their long program, but unless they massively failed like the Germans did, they weren't going to lose the gold.

Question. Are most of the figure skating pairs dating couples or something?

They better be. They only practice like 100 hours a day.

I remember some analyst saying it's surprising how many aren't couples, whatever that's worth.

Huh, ok. I thought my friend was just pulling my leg when she said this is the case. I know nothing about figure skating, so didn't realize that was the case.

I don't think dating is actually that common within the pairs.

I'm sure a number of them are, but of course not all. And some like Dube and Davidson were dating but broke up and are now just partners again.

I see. I know one of the judges kept saying something about showing passion for each other, and my friend insists most are all couples, I just took it as face value.

I guess it wouldn't surprise me if most were couples I guess. You get to train with this hot girl and touch her in all sorts of places.

I didn't think Patrick Chan was actually a favourite to medal, I thought he was just Canada's best chance at a medal in the mens competition.

I am really not sold on him at all.

I think that's it. Chan's short program is tomorrow. He's in tough.

We've got a shot in the women's 500 longtrack with Nesbitt, but I wouldn't say it's a favorite.

I haven't watched too much of Chan so far, but from what I've seen, maybe he'll be like Kurt Browning. Good with style and expression, but crappy at landing jumps.

Is there a site to quickly look at the medal count?

Chan will be in very tough to finish top 5 he would have to have the skate of his life to medal. However hes incredible under pressure.

He was 6th at the worlds.

The GF used to figure skate competitively and knows alot of the skaters shes expecting a top 3 of evgeny plushenko(Russia), jeremy abbot(USA), and some German i forget the name

That's the problem with figure skating. The judges have already decided the top three too, and it won't matter how many times they fall on their asses.

Very very true its easily the most corrupt sport there is. The guys with names pretty much are guaranteed of high placing because it looks good on the sport.
Look at the pairs yesterday, there is no way that dube and davidson should have even been in 6th imo they skated to maybe an 8th at best
If patrick Chan was able to medal id be completely shocked
