James Cameron's wife from 20 years ago, Kathryn Bigelow is responsible for this brilliant piece of cinematography. Cameron had some input on this movie and Bigelow also had a fair amount of input on Avatar (which, IMHO, pails in comparison). Far and away the best movie I have seen in recent memory, it gets a huge recommendation from myself as well as 97 % of the people found at the following link I am attaching to this post. Seriously, the next movie you watch, make it The Hurt Locker.

I watched it over Christmas. It was alright, I didn't think it was great. Entertaining for sure. Movie to watch, but I wouldn't hail it as the best.

Maybe starting the movie at 12 AM had something to do with it.

I was not as enamored as I thought I would be. It was just OK in my book as well. Being former military, I figured it would be right up my alley, but it never really sucked me in.

Honestly, I saw District 9 the same weekend and enjoyed it much more.

Go figure.

To give an idea of the difference in opinion on this movie, I went with two friends. I really liked it, one of my friends loved it, and the other one hated it.

I watched it last night, and I have to admit I was disappointed with it after hearing how good it was from so many different people.

I'd put it in my top 10 for the year, but I don't think it should win Best Picture. Jeremy Renner was fantastic though and should definitely get a best actor nomination.

I thought it was really well done. It wasn't predictible like so many movies are these days. My wife and I both really enjoyed it.

Ya, I watched this last night as well. Awesome movie. A few critics have even called it one of the best movies of the last decade (Ebert for example).

A movie worthy of Best Picture consideration for sure, but doesn't stand a chance of winning thanks to those blue creatures that swing through the trees.

I honestly still don't get why Avatar is as big as it has been. I mean, yea it looked cool in 3D, yea it was cool how the movie was designed, but to me it was just a blue-man-group Apocalypto. I thought the story was kinda weak as well and some of the dialog was just lame. A good movie yes, a great movie no.

To me it just seemed like the Hurt Locker was a more enjoyable 2 and a half hours in comparison. To each his own I guess, I am with Ebert though (never thought I would say that

I liked the Hurt Locker, I wouldn't put it in my top 10 though.

I was actually a bit aggrivated with the ending, It was like reading 1/2 a book and it left me wanting more. I'd still recommend people see it.

I thought it was very well done... Really gives you a look at what soldiers deal with.

I agree its not in my top 10, or top 40 for that fact, but I would watch it again. I also would recommend it.

Apocalypto kicked ass! Not a fan of the blue man group though. Overrated.

I'm curious to see how much I enjoy Avatar in 2d when it comes out on DVD. Then I can get a better idea of how much the technology influenced my enjoyment.

I'm not baffled by Avatars success. There really has never been anything like it before. On top of the novelty it is a very entertaining action movie.

I'd probably put The Hurt Locker in the top 3 war movies of all time. Best "modern war" movie, period.

Best movie I've seen this year, for sure. Really surprised some people aren't liking it...
