I have a huge poster/mural that I haven't used cause I i would like to mount it somehow... The drymounting thing has me interested... can you do it yourself? or is there a place that does it? Michaels? It's huge so I'm going to imagine it'll cost me a lot.

My favourite wall hanging is a poster from Just for Laughs 1999. I spent the summer in Montreal and attended 4 of the 5 English Galas. Amazing experience. The poster has been to hell and back. It's wrinkled, torn in a corner, etc. I bought a poster frame for it about two years ago and now I find it has more character.
Alas I don't have it here in Fredericton with me. Right now I have pictures up on the walls. A few scenic pictures from Cape Breton, group pictures with friends, etc.
I'm a big fan of putting up your own work. It's original, and every picture has a story.

I love my maps. My walls are adorned by a World map, Canada map, USA map, Europe map, Rome map, Calgary map, a star map , Alberta/BC map, MD Rockeyview map, and a smaller world map that has landmarks drawn on the cities, such as their unique buildings. Calgary has the Calgary Tower and the Saddledome. Edmonton has nothing.
Some people think I'm a raging geek because of this, but I don't care. I once dumped a chick because she made fun of my maps. Her apartment had the aforementioned painting of a chair.

When I get my house finished I plan on having a huge world map in my office. Maps are cool.

I don't think they do, but I think it adds to the character of the room if they are.
Think of it as a gift or present you give someone. Functionality isn't a requirement, but often helps make a gift better.

Check out those two map places downtown. One is called map world, the other is map town. Can't remember which is which, but the one that's on center street and 6th ave has this wicked political world map that also has some topography on it that compliments it. It's pretty big (~6'x10'), and it's a couple hundred dollars to have it mounted permanently on plastic or wood, but it's really nice. It would not look at all geeky. It would look awesome in an office and be very useful for all those times when you hear a news story and you just want to see exactly where a place is, or, in your case, you'll be able to get a good idea of whichever place your employer is sending you off to.
I like to know a place's proximity to other countries, water, it's latitude (gives you an idea of what kind of climate), and just how far it is from Calgary.
And no, CMpunk, things on the wall don't need to be functional, it's just nice when they are. If I want to gaze at a cahir, I'll gaze at an actual chair.

The map store downtown has many world maps. I have one in my office and I've put pins in all the places I've been. Here's a pic.
I believe they also have some prints of "old world" maps from past eras.

Who makes those? The same company that made my Sorny Dvd player, or my Panaphonics TV?

We have a couple Bev Doolittle prints, a couple of photos from our wedding and a bunch of photos we've taken ourselves. It's pretty eclectic, but it suits us very well.
