I heard the Star Trek experience is going to be opening again in a Vegas mall or something.
Anyway, went to Ka in April (in the fourth row mind you) and it was major impressive. Even my redneck dad was impressed. We were in Vegas for the drag races, talked dad into going to Ka and quite surprisingly he loved it.

You misunderstand - the vibe I am giving off is "don't bring women to LV".

Well it just seems like an odd comparison. Sort of like asking if someone in Calgary should catch a Flames game or just walk around on Stephen Ave.
Freemont St. is worth checking out for sure, but it's just a walk down a few blocks covered by a digital light show over head, some novelty stores, and a group of older casinos.
Drinks are cheap, the gambling is thought to be a bit better than on the strip, and the light show is worth seeing (although it's incredibly cheesy).
But it's sort of apples and oranges when compared to catching a show. Two different activities.
Based on what you want to do I'd catch a show, cab it down to Freemont when it's over, and do both.

Last I heard they were looking at Neonopolis, which is that big weird looking complex on Freemont one block off Las Vegas Blvd.
There used to be a movie theatre in there but it closed last year.
I think it would be a great spot as it would get a lot of traffic from the Freemont Hotels and would add to down town.
I was disappointed when it's lease was up at the Hilton. I loved the 3 and 4D rides and then getting smashed at Quark's bar.

I was just there last week, and we decided to check out Freemont Street. It was "OK". Definitely a little more seedy than the strip. There were more than a few religious fanatics preaching up and down with "repent" signs and the like. The light show overhead, as mentioned previously, was pretty dated and I found it to be kind of cheezy. I don't necessarily regret going, but if I was pressed for time and/or had other things to do, I wouldn't worry about missing it.
A friend that I was with was trying to find some low-stakes blackjack, and the gambling wasn't any cheaper (for blackjack at least) than on the strip.
Cirque shows are good. On this past trip, I saw "Love" and if you're a Beatles fan, I would highly recommend it. Seems to be continually sold out through, so you'll want to book in advance. My wife has seen Ka and said that it was pretty good too.
I'd say that you can probably find enough other things to do than hitting Freemont Street, but if you still feel compelled, I think that the taxi was about $20 each from Excalibur, so it isn't like it'll break you, especially if you're with a few others.
Edit: And yes, you can definitely to both in the same evening if you'd like to. Las Vegas is one of those places where they days are a lot longer than anywhere else!

Freemont Street is a great place to start out your night. You get to drink for free as long as you are playing any kind of machine(even the nickles) and most of the cheesy casinos have some great greasy eats like Nathans Hot Dogs and other crap.
I would do a Show on your first day then I would hit up Freemont then the New strip on another night.

Freemont is worth checking out. We did it on our 1st trip and haven't done it since, mostly due to other stuff we want to do, but we'll probably make a stop at Freemont Street on our next trip. We probably weren't there for very long. We checked out the street, it was nothing too special, we didn't gamble at any of the casinos there, but we walked into a couple of them. Nothing special. For many people, the main attraction of going to Freemont is the light show. It is worth a trip.
As for Cirque. It really depend on your tastes. I have yet to year anything good about Kriss Angel's Believe at Luxor, so I would certainly stay away from that one. Zumanity at New York New York is something that you would only want to see if you are very comfortable with very sexual presentations. A friend went to see Love at Mirage but wasn't impressed because they were expecting more of the Beatles hits to be played.
I've only seen Mystere at Treasure Island, and I enjoyed it. I've also heard that you cannot go wrong with O at Bellagio or Ka at MGM Grand. I've also heard that La Reve at Wynn is a good show. It is not a Cirque brand though, so keep that in mind if you are only looking for a show branded by Cirque Du Soliel.
Don't buy your tickets ahead of time. You'll always find tickets, even the day of the show. In fact, you can go to Tix4Tonight and get discounted prices, and still get good seats. When we saw Mystere we went to the box office located outside of TI, right on the strip, and in front of the booth was a lady giving out 2 for 1 tickets, a better discount than what we could have had at Tix 4 Tonight.

I have yet to see a place in Vegas were you don't get to drink for "free" while you are gambling in their casino.

I don't drink for free at the Casinos... I drink for a dollar.
You tip the server a buck each time you get a drink, you get your drinks 3 times faster. Don't tip, and it can take 15 - 20 mins before you're asked if you want another. Tip a buck, and they're back like bees to honey.
Singles go a long way in Vegas.

So.. All You Need is Love, Drive My Car, Hold My Hand, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Octopus' Garden, Elenor Rigby, Because, Helter Skelter, Help!, Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds.. and more, wasn't enough?
Wow.. tough crowd. I'm a huge Beatles fan, and I loved it. I love the soundtrack too.

If you go to Cirque, make sure you pick the right one, there are 6 playing there at the moment.
Frank Caliendo just opened up a few months back at the Monte Carlo - A show very much worth seeing.
Blue Man Group = amazing.

I don't think it is, but very similar. Created by a former Cirque producer. Either way, it is the best Vegas show I have seen.
