Mayweather is a better boxer and if he takes the fight seriously he should win no problem. The only issue is that Floyd seems to have become bored with fighting and likely doesn't care enough to take it seriously.
|
Are you talking about Mayweather from his good old days or now? I agree Mayweather WAS good back then BUT back then he didn't fight anyone as quick and as powerful as Pacquiao. Pacquiao is a lot better fighter now than a few years ago. He can hit you with left or right and still feel the pain. A few years ago Pacquiao's power is coming from left hand. Trust me if this fight happens Mayweather will not get bored because he'll be too busy trying to avoid Pacquiao's speed and the power. Ever seen him fight with Ricky Hatton then Cotto? I won't even mention Oscar de La Hoya's fight because Oscar don't even have any business fighting at the time anymore.

Looks like there are some holes in Pacquiao's story.
http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/box...ory?id=4777048
Quote:
When HBO televised "Pacquiao/Hatton 24/7" -- the four-part series that followed the buildup to Pacquiao's second-round knockout of Ricky Hatton to win the junior welterweight title in Las Vegas last May -- it aired footage of Pacquiao taking a routine blood test as part of his prefight medical exam in Los Angeles.
The blood test was conducted approximately 14 days before the fight; it punches holes in Pacquiao's argument that giving blood inside 30 days of a fight negatively impacts his performance.
|
Still sounds like he's trying to duck Money May.

I thought that the Las Vegas boxing commission was ordering urine tests to try to get around this impasse last week?

^Not so much. What Mayweather is asking is way outside of the standards for boxing. This is all a ploy of his. It either makes Pac man look bad for not wanting to take the ridiculous additional testing, or he does pass and Mayweather can say "I did it for the good of the sport." This whole circus is just that, a circus, and is a bunch of crap. Just take whatever tests the state orders, get whipped by Pacquiao and go count your money.

garbage.
Purely a ploy to taint any potential endorsement deals that Paq might get over Mayweather.
You're asking Paq to prove a negative. There is no upside for him. If he takes the test and comes out clean, the stigma will remain.
Accusing someone of steroids in sports is the equivalent of calling someone a pedophile in regular life. The stigma is there forever, guilty or not.
This was a bushleague tactic in what has become a bushleague sport. I hope Paq wins the lawsuit and wins bigtime.

Doesn't this more prove that he wasn't using anything when he rocked Hatton?
IMO Mayweather is the one looking for a reason not to fight him.

I noticed Golden Boy promotions is also included in the lawsuit. When did Oscar come out and say Manny was taking drugs?

Anyone get the feeling the "controversy" has been cooked-up jointly by both sides to drive-up the PPV purse?

Now I have to wonder about him. I’m saying to myself, “Wow. Those Mosley punches, those Vargas punches and those Pacquiao punches all felt the same.” I’m not saying yes or no [about whether Pacquiao might be taking performance-enhancing drugs]; I’m just saying that now people have to wonder: “Why doesn’t he want to do this? Why is it such a big deal.”
|
Never "came out and said" it, but certainly questions his motives.
Isn't Mayweather represented by Golden Boy? If so, of course they'd be named in the suit.

Fight officially called off. Disappointing to say the least.

Awesome news. No payday for Floyd. Now he can continue to fight no-name lighter fighters to pad his stats.

When the promoters are done with all the games. Manny for the win. If it ever happens it will be one hell of a fight. Mayweather will be forced to back up all his hype.

How is it Floyd's fault here? I'm not a fan of the guys' personality, but I really think Pacman is the one to blame here. As pointed out, in the De La Hoya/Pacman reality show, Pacman was showed taking tests days before the fight. Has he suddenly developed a superstition? I don't know if he's taking substances or not, or just buying time, but to me it's more about hype. They're just building it up and eventually it'll happen. That's one thing I don't care for in MMA and Boxing. Too much prefight acting and taunting just to sell it. Take a month or so and just fight. The act grows thin after awhile.

So what can you test before the fight that can't be tested minutes after the fight is done? Pacquiao has said he has no problems doing the blood test right after the fight, but that's not good enough for Floyd. It's clearly a tactic by Floyd to get as much advantage as he can over Pacquiao.
If I were Pacquiao I'd tell him to get bent too. He's tested negative all the times he went through testing. Mayweather needs Pacquiao way more than the other way around. If Mayweather somehow botches this, then there's no doubt in my mind he should be tagged with the "ducking good opponents" tag.

If there was any doubt before, this further solidifies the fight not happening in March.

Don't think it will happen. Both seem pretty stubborn about the issues, and neither will budge.
Mayweather thinks he's above boxing's law, I and truly believe he's scared to blemish his record against Manny.
