I have been watching F1 since I can remember, my dad being a huge fan. He used to take us to the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort in the late 70s.

Very exciting season thus far, I'm enjoying seeing Brawn rocking the establishment (even though he did buy a pre-existing team and rebranded it).

And for some nostalgic fun -- The Murray Walker Quotes page. I still hear his voice as I am reading the quotes:

http://www.worldmotorsport.com/murray/

Murray: There's a fiery glow coming from the back of the Ferrari James: No Murray, that's his rear safety light

"Stop! Stop! Look! Look! It's a Williams, and I'm guessing that's Jacques Villeneuve, I can't tell you for sure because I can't see from here. And so Villeneuve retires .... it's Hill! Damon Hill is out of the Monza Grand Prix!"

My favorite was in 1997, at the French GP, we come back from commercial, Murray is screaming, "Drama in France! Drama in France! Damon Hill has retired from the race!"

Good ole German salute.

Now we need Jacque back so he can try to run him off the race track again.

Maybe Mikka should make a comeback as well. While I understand Schumacher's loyalty to Ferrari, I think this is a huge mistake. He is 3 years removed from sport, the car has completely changed, and I don't think he can get in it until first day of practise in Valencia.
edit: confirmed.. there is a driver testing ban. Drivers are not allowed to test drive the current generation of F1 chassis. Ferrari has sent a request to the other F1 teams and FIA requesting permission to get Schumacher into the F60 for a single day before Valencia. I say they grant the request, but allow every team the same opportunity.

Of course, there is always the change that he is that good, and will jump right in and start winning again.

It will be good to see him drive along side of all the young stars though. I for one am kind of excited for Valencia now. It will be interesting if nothing else.

I'm thinking it's lose/lose for him but what the heck. If he succeeds they will just say the competitors of today suck or that he wins as expected. Or he is an old fuddy duddy who can't drive anymore.

The facts more likely being it takes him what's left of the season to even get back up to speed. Even if he does can his car compete?

If I was him thought I'd say whatever. Stuff my rep. I'm bored and this will be fun and it's not like I'm committed to anything--just filling in. As a sports fan it adds interest so it can't be bad.

Seems like Montreal may be back on again for next season:

http://www.tsn.ca/auto_racing/story/?id=286700

Ecclestone told the latest edition of Motorsport Aktuell magazine that "we'll be driving in Montreal again in 2010."

However, he was more cautious in an interview with CBC Radio, saying, "We're doing our best to make sure it happens."

He said the deal will be official "when it's on the calendar," something he said could be announced within the next few weeks.

I hope Montreal does end up back on the schedule next year. It is a fantastic event. the whole city is buzzing.

That and a client of mine puts on a big F1 party every year which is out of this world. They did it this year even though there was no race and it was still fun jsut not the same. These guys know how to throw a party. They brought in 2 bus loads of models from Quebec City (so it would be fresh girls as most people at the party apparently already know all of the models in Montreal) The buses pull up in front of the event and out they all come in lingerie carrying/spraying Magnums of Mumms Champagne.

I can't wait for next year

Oh man.. if the F1 is back in Montreal next year, I am going for sure! It would be epic!.
Tim.. hook a brother up! jk.

On another note.. Schumacher as decided not to replace Massa for the rest of the F1 season. After a few practice sessions in an old F2007, Schumacher feels his neck injury which he sustained in February is not healed enough.

http://www.formula1.com/news/headlines/2009/8/9731.html

Quote:
Michael Schumacher has revealed he won’t return to Formula One racing at the European Grand Prix later this month. Schumacher had planned to replace the injured Felipe Massa for Ferrari at the Valencia race, but has been forced to cancel his comeback due to pain in his neck, which was caused by a motorcycle accident earlier this year.
Instead, Ferrari will use one of their practice drivers Luca Badoer instead.

Ferrari have announced that test driver Luca Badoer has been drafted in to race at the European Grand Prix later this month.

Wow, the first lap was insane. 4 guys off, Rubens stalled. Kimi jumping from 6th to 2nd after the 1st lap, then took over 1st after the safety car.

Crazy course.

And lets not forget the force that was Force India. Good on them. First ever points for the team, and a podium to boot!

How much money did Montreal lose this year by not having a race.

Mercedes takes over the Brawn team, and renames it Mercedes Grand Prix.

Quote:
Confirming rumours that had been in the air for several weeks, Mercedes-Benz parent company Daimler AG announced on Monday that together with Aabar Investments, it will be taking over a 75.1% joint stake in this year's championship-winning team, Brawn GP.
http://en.f1-live.com/f1/en/headline...16133246.shtml

Mercedes will also continue to supply engines to McLaren.

It is believed that Mercedes already signed Rosberg, but the second driver has not yet been clarified.

There are also mentions of Button going to McLaren alongside Hamilton, since Button is looking for a big pay raise and a competitive car.

Love the Montreal F1 race as well. I'm happy its back. I've missed the last couple, but I'll probably go again this year.

Schumacher officially returned to F1 this morning coming home to MB where he started his motorsports career.

http://www.planet-f1.com/story/0,189...794625,00.html

Now I really can't wait for the Montreal GP next summer. Will have to see if i can pull some strings at MB and get to meet him. Not likely though for a lowley car salesman
