I've tried to walk a 7,200 yard course. I consider myself in pretty decent shape, and it's tough to do it and hit a consistent round of golf.
I can't imagine doing it four days in a row with added pressure of galleries and hundreds of thousands of dollars.
It's definitely a sport.

People walk all the time. I used to cut grass in the summers during university and I'd walk with my trimmer at a fast pace from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. every day. Of course it's tiring, but that still doesn't make it a sport unless you consider landscaping a sport, or mailmanning, or waitressing, or - well, you get the point.
An audience and money don't make it a sport, either. Unless you consider singing a sport, or acting, or politicing, or - well you get the point here, too.
It's definitely not a sport.

Can't there be different levels of sport?
Golf is a sport, come on now.
Do you have to run, jump or participate in physical contact?
No, but what proffessional golfers accomplish with a golf club and golf ball has to be considered athletic. Look at how dedicated they are, and how much they have practice and work at what they do to be successful.
Just my opinion.
...and to keep this thread on topic, boy is Woods ever a horndog eh?

Didn't ESPN do that already? Well the best thing to do is have the top 25 golfers in the world do other sports against other professionals from that league. Hockey, football, basketball, skiing, F1, figure skating. Then you have top 25 athletes from those sports do some golfing and then see the results after.
I would love to see Woods take a hit from Phaneuf, a tackle from Ray Lewis, charged into by Shaq, and thrown into a triple toe loop by some cdn pair skater.

I would love to see Cammaleri take a tackle from Ray Lewis and see how he fairs. I see now how you are doing your comparisons, it all makes sense now. Well, not really.
I bet Iginla couldn't win a F1 race, which makes him not an athlete. haha wow just stupid!

So it took to page 22 or 23 for this to turn into a golf is not a sport argument. Ridiculous argument. Anyone claiming it to not be a sport hasn't played much or any golf in their life. Cruising around drinking beer while riding a golf cart doesn't count. Walk a course, carry your bag, and shoot 150 times.

For someone who seems to take golf so seriously, why do you need 150 shots? I could break that before I hit puberty.

But i'm willing to bet he could finish the 40 laps or whatever it is. I'm sure tiger could finish the course but all those other guys would prob pull over and puke 10-15 laps in.
hmmm Actually tiger would prob hit a fire hydrant going into the pits. hehehehehe.

I don't take it seriously, I'm just bored and need to argue about stupidity.
