"We live in a country, where John Lennon takes six bullets in the chest, Yoko Ono was standing right next to him and not one ****ing bullet! Explain that to me! Explain that to me, God! Explain it to me, God! I want it! God! Jesus!"

I just saw his Star on the sidewalk outside Capitol Records in Hollywood. There was a devoted fan there, cleaning and polishing his star. He had a whole box of cleaning supplies.
We don't shoot idols happily shoot instead
Up my road the police just thought are you dead
'Cause they guessed he might of been a bit of a terrorister
Does this bomb look big in this bag then but we love Biggy, Johnny Cash and Stevie Wonder
It's no Biggy we got no cash and its no wonder
'Cause I'm proud we gave you people like John Lennon
Even though you shot him as well

I was pretty young and hadn't yet discovered the Beatles, but I remember my Dad being fairly broken up about it. He took the opportunity to educate me on the early days of rock & roll.
He later admitted this was a huge mistake after noting the thousands I've spent on LPs, cassettes, CDs, digital music, and concerts.

I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when I heard about it. I was at MacDonalds and had just picked up a burger and fries to go, when I heard it over the radio.
I was shocked. The memory is still vivid in my mind....
Yes Elvis went home,, which is somewhere around the Anoat System.
...actually Elvis is living in Lethbridge; it's the last place anyone would look if you wanted to hide out (s'okay, I used to live there, I can say that). He and Salman Rushdie were sharing a basement apartment there in the '90s.

That's one of those moments for me too, along with the moon landing, Sept. 11th, Paul Henderson's goal and Stevie Ray Vaughan's death.
I was on my way to work at Prudential Steel, driving down 52nd St SE when news of Lennon's death came on the radio. I turned around, went home, phoned in sick and sat around getting numb on weed and beer all night. His death still causes me a lot of anger.
