It would be interesting to see how Boise State would do if they had to play in a competitve conference like the Pac 10 where any team is capable of beating another team save WASU this year. They beat the Ducks at home, but could they go on the road and win all 3 games against some of those teams?
|
Same goes for Utah and TCU.
Everyone wants to jump on their bandwagons and complain when they are undefeated why they are not in the bcs game but its because they dont play anyone.
Once they play in a big boy conference like the big 12 or Pac10 then they have a gripe but I dont think they would come close to undefeated if they did play those two conferences

YOUR OUT TO LUNCH BRO....... I hate Texas but they are a pretty solid team. I dont think you can call out Texas for playing some pretty shotty games. Florida has crapped the bed a couple times this year and not looked up to snuff.

I will admit I dont watch alot of Tejas games.
I will also admit that I expected alot more from my gators as did the rest of the country. I think the country thought they would just blow teams out week in and out like last year.
Florida came out of columbia today with a perfect trap game and came out with a 10 point win.
It still doesn't matter as long as UF wins out they are in. I'm not scared of tejas by any means. bama on the other hand I am. Its not the bama offense that scares me it their scary ass defense. Take ingram out and make him quiet then force the ginger to beat you and I think we are okay.

Sure what makes you sleep at night.
LSU... In death valley
Florida has a been better on offense this year EXCEPT in the red zone and scoring. rushing the ball by alot more this year compared to last. Passing is about 20 yards less than last year but when you rush for around 60 more yards per game that takes alot of time off the clock and you dont score as much. They also had turnover issues this year that haunted them in the Arky game and gave MSU 12 points on pick 6's. In fact UF's offense gave up more points in the MSU game than the defense without Spikes.
The proof is there. They play very good defense and every tedam that plays UF can care less about the team they played the week before or after they just want to beat the top dog. its thier super bowl.
But I guess when you're on a 20 game winning streak people tend to hate you and try to make every little thing into a huge thing.
20 wins in a row and defending national champions. But people have to dog on them for every little thing.

I think it has more to do with when everyone in the media over hypes your team and its QB and you need the refs to help you win games people tend to get tired of the hype.
People don't need to make every little thing into a huge thing as Florida has done that on their own with their meh play this season.

It's funny because I am not scared of Florida, Bama scares me though. I hope they beat Bama just so UT can beat another hyped up team in Pasadena. People who don't watch UT I guess don't notice how amazing their D is. Earl Thomas and Aaron Williams might be the best in the country at their positions and are only sophmores.

Lets clear a few things up. If the Big 12 and Pac 10 are big boy conferences then they really don't scare anyone right now. Utah and TCU could hang with either conference in 2008 and 2009 playing in the conference. TCU was nearly as good as Utah last year and is far superior this year. I'm guessing with the crappy MWC tv deal most people haven't watched TCU play this year. They are the real deal just like Utah was last year. TCU will be able to beat any of the teams ranked ahead of them. The scary thing is TCU only loses two offensive starters and three defensive starters next season. They have depth and speed with some of their running backs being freshman. Trust me on this one TCU is a very good team.
Utah, in a rebuilding year still will go 10-2 with only losses on the road to TCU and Oregon. New OC and Dc coordinators, freshman QB, this team will be ready to go next season. Utah needs to get more athletes to keep up with TCU but Utah really only loses their secondary as the offense is very young. So next year expect TCU and Utah to via for the top of the MWC. Utah has beefed up the 2010 schedule as much as possible playing Notre dame, Pitt, and Iowa State.
As the resident Utah and semi mwc spokesperson I'm sure some of you will discount what I have to say. I called Utah winning the sugar bowl last year and believe TCU is as good or better then that team. After TCU, Utah, BYU, and Air force the MWC conference is horrible. I will concede that but the top two teams can compete with anyone in the country. Why did Texas refuse to add TCU to the schedule?
I hope TCU gets a shot at the mythical national title as they do deserve it. Their strength of schedule is well above Boise State's. Most Utah fans are hoping that Utah can get USC in the Vegas Bowl or one of the San Diego bowls. Pete Carroll mouthed off years ago and Ute fans haven't forgotten what he said "USC will never lose to a team like Utah again!" Bring it Petey because even in a rebuilding year Utah will give you all you want and then some. If Utah can't get a piece of USC then I would be fine with them laying a beating on Boise State at a bowl game.
With the cotton bowl being rumored as an addition to the BCS bowls that might allow for more AQ conferences. It also looks like they are moving toward setting up a playoff system. If TCU gets left out of the mythical NC title game you could see a lot more people joining the fight to get rid of the BCS.
Boise State's schedule strength sucks because they are demanding a million dollar pay day to come and play the big boys. That is why they can't find anyone to play them.

Yes the media and everyone else thought UF was just going to blow everyone out of the water this year like they did last year after the ole miss loss.
I would like to know were the refs actually put points on the board or off the board in any florida game. Yes the PF was a cheap call but cry me a f'n river. I dont hear the same cry and moan about alabama when the "refs helped them win a game"
Timmy isn't just the same after he had his brain scrambled in lexington. The new OC has a poor game plan and looks worse. But the fact of the matter is they are 10-0 and beating 3 rivals comfortably.
Keep hating on the team this is exactly how it was in 06 and last year.]
Rumor has it that Ole Bobby stoops is looking at a certian job in south bend

If Bob stoops takes the Notre Dame job he is an idiot. It most likely will go to Brian Kelly. Notre Dame can't pay him more than OU, they offer no more prestige (I would argue less prestige since ND hasn't done a damn thing in years), and I just don't see why any top program coach would leave for anything other than the NFL.

When did Texas refuse to play TCU? Link? Schedules are set years in advance. Texas signed games with Minnesota and Cal this year for years from now. For all Texas knows either of those teams could be very legit by then. And TCU most likely will get left out of the National title game as I don't think Texas will lose and only one of Fla-Bama will lose. The only thing TCU is proving is that they belong in the Big 12 which is why I hope that the rumored Colorado to the Pac-10 and replaced by TCU actually happens.
Oklahoma St. is better than anyone TCU played.

That play and the BS PI call both made it possible for Florida to continue drives. If you don't see how they put points on the board I guess you fon't follow football that much.

Really you don't? The whole complaint is that the SEC refs have made terrible calls that helped the big teams (i.e. both Alabama and Florida).
Alabama certainly has been included in the outcry about the terrible SEC reffing.

Where the hell did you hear this ???? The only college jobs i could see stoops leaving for are Iowa or FLorida... he has already turned down Florida twice BTW..... He has it way to good at OU to leave. He make big bucks, he is the center of sports here in Oklahoma cause football is king. He has no reason to leave. He gets everything he wants here.

Why Iowa?
I could see Ohio State being tempting if that job came open.

Saragrin rankings strength of schedule:
Alabama - 22
Florida - 34
TCU - 48
Texas - 50
Cincy - 65
Boise St - 91
Look at the actual schedule next time and don't just look at what conference the team plays in.
Florida and Texas have beaten 1 team currently ranked in the top 25. Bama has beaten 2. TCU has beaten 3.
Much like Texas, when TCU has played it's weaker opponents they've blown them out consistently. TCU has only played 2 games within 15 points.
TCU could win any conference in the country this season.

This season, TCU's legit. The problem I have with smaller schools is success is year-to-year and often proponents of small schools/conferences use the success of small schools/conferences as a whole to bolster their specific school's argument to play in a better bowl.
But no question, TCU can roll with anyone. I'm not convinced at all that Boise State could play week-in-week-out in a major conference and go on the road and have the same amount of success.
