well, if the us currency crashes, which i believe it will, the rioting and mayhem could possibly warrant regional states to join. it's much like the breakdown of the old russian republic. i don't see this being too far off to be honest.

If the states break up into separate republics, there's no way Utah and Arizona go in with California and Cascadia. Well, maybe Arizona but certainly not Utah.

Any break up of the U.S. would probably result in a whole re-organization of the continent. As nice as it is to think that Canada could survive and become some sort of stable anchor and benefit from a power shift, it would probably end up that we would follow the same path.
The concept of nation state is changing so much that eventually borders won't mean nearly as much.

They can keep those ones. I agree with Vulcan, those states will do just fine.

There's a ridiculous amount of oil in North Dakota. I'd take it.

I'd better get my butt back home before this happens so I can be part of Canada (Vulcan's plan) instead of wherever Kansas is going.

Not likely possible but for purposes of this thread, but it is just as realistic as the US breaking up by next year.

Just get a long straw and drink the North Dakotan milkshake.

I hope Washington stays part of the United States. I can't imagine how expensive life would be if I paid Canadian prices for food, gas, liquor, and tobacco.
