The debut of Monsters of Folk is pretty good. This is the new group consisting of Jim James (My Morning Jacket), Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes), and M. Ward.

I posted this in old virgin fest concert thread but I figured it would get some good use here too...
FYI, pearl jam released a bootleg of their Calgary concert at Virginfest. Pretty damn good...definitely some raw singing from Vedder.

Bon Jovi's new album The Circle is pretty good, but if you don't like him I wouldn't recommend it. I also finally got around to buying the new-ish album by Phoenix, Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, and I HIGHLY recommend it (I am stoked to see them on Dec. 15th, even though the band I really want to see at that show is Muse). Ocean Eyes by Owl City is pretty good if you're into the whole "soft" Synth/Electronic genre. How is Blue Rodeo's new album?
P.S. I'm not gay, just to clarify...I just think Coldplay makes some wicked tunes, that is all.

Yeah i have been pretty impressed with this supergroup. The album has a Fleet Foxes kind of feel to it...more melodic than MMJ stuff.

Damn it. I'm not in a position to grab that today. Thanks for the reminder!

You know, I'd feel a lot better about buying his CD if he didn't have the album cover appealing to his...um...more feminine crowd.
Soooo gay. I hope the sound is more along the lines of Continuum/JMT.

Well it was smart of him to make a cover that appeals to 99.9% of his fans.

Actually, I can't even defend this one at all. Very bland. That and he disco'd up Robert Johnson's "Crossroads." Unforgivable.
And a butchered version of Springsteen's "I'm On Fire."

I dunno, I like it so far. It's not as good as Continuum, but I knew that would be a hard album to top.
As for the cover, I can't agree more. Which one of his managers thought that was a good idea?
