Now my focus shifts to what are the odds going to be on the World Series? Something tells me with CC now able to go on a full rest for Game 1 the Yankees are going to be favorites by quite a bit. Minus 130-140 for a series win. I'll be on them though no matter what, I love how they match up with the Phils
Edit: Never mind on that first book has the Yanks at minus 190 so the oddsmakers are def. favouring the Yanks

They haven't been in the World Series since they lost to the Florida Marlins back in 2003.
They haven't won a World Series since 2000 when they swept the Mets.

The best price I see now is at Pinnacle, who have:
Yankees -193
Phillies +177
Pretty much what I expected considering C.C. Sabathia will likely pitch Game 1, Game 4, and Game 7 if necessary.

nobody gives a crap if the team that consistently spends 47 times more than the other teams is in the World Series again. They should be in it every year if they do that.
I love baseball, but it needs a cap in place to make actual managerial skills matter again.

I disagree. Teams like Milwaukee and Kansas City contribute nothing to the television revenue that drives the league. Why should they be rewarded for contributing nothing?

Yankees Phillies in the Series for the first time since 1950. The last time these two teams met in the World Series, Joe DiMaggio was nearing the end of his career and Mickey Mantle wasn't even a Yankee yet. Whitey Ford was a rookie and it was the Yankees 13th Championship. The Phillies played in Shibe Park and shared the city with the American League Athletics. The Giants played in the Polo Grounds, the Dodgers played in Ebbits Field and there was an American League team in St. Louis. Batters didn't wear helmets, the fielders left their gloves at their position on the field and Babe Ruth had the record for most home runs in a season with 60.

Its not the Yankees fault that they have an owner that wants to win and spends all of the teams revenue to do it. While some other teams in the league do nothing to improve their roster and bring home higher profits due to revenue sharing. I don't remember Blue Jays fans complaining about a salary cap when they won back to back World Series.

Maybe the rest of the league should re-invest their profits every year the way those two teams do instead of just getting rich off of innocent Joe Blows like all the fans in Florida and Toronto who pay money every year to watch a crappy product.

Chad Gaudin is throwing a simulated game at Yankee Stadium. Does this mean the Yankees are seriously considering using a 4 man rotation? Would Joe Girardi really start Gaudin in Philly?

Why not?
There are lot of off days. There are breaks between the 2nd/3rd and 5th/6th games so there is no reason for a 5th starter.

Some one on here posted the stats about 4-man vs 5-man rotations a while back, and if I recall there was almost no difference in the effectiveness of the pitcher. So if that means beaing able to trot out your top 4 pitchers and avoid going to a 5th starter, why the heck not (although a guy getting paid 25 million really has little incentive to try to do 20% more starts for the same money).
And with the way the post season is spaced out, a 3 man rotation can start every 4 days.
