If I'm stopped at a two-way, and I get there first, that means I have right-of-way. Doesn't matter if I'm turning left, right, going through or somehow magically travelling upwards. I go first. Don't look at me like I'm some kind of ###### because you're going through and I'm going left. I go first.
Edit: I'm going to pile onto the "MQS is wrong" side
I tend to agree with this, but I think there is a lot of confusion when it comes to this, because the drivers manual doesn't specifically address this situation. The manual talks about 4 way stops, but not really 2 way stops. There is a section about stop signs, but all it says is you have to stop and proceed when it is safe to do so. I have the link to the Alberta drivers manual. Can anyone find the passages that apply to the 2-way stop situation?
Here's the law I'm perfectly willing to break. I look at handicapped stalls as reserved for handicapped people unless all other spots are full. I've only actually parked in one once - the KFC on 17th ave (the nice 17th ave lol). Like I said, every spot was full so I took the handicapped spot and didn't feel at all bad about it.
Flame away, ladies.
You might choose what rules you follow, but you are a low life if you break this rule. I look for people that break this rule so I can intervene. Usually they are the biggest losers you can imagine that I give trouble to, so is that what type of person you think of yourself?
Maybe you don't know anyone that needs those stalls, and maybe you don't need one yourself, but those that do use them need them.
Clearly you don't understand what you are doing ("didn't feel all bad about it"), so maybe you are completely ignorant to the issues.
Those imbeciles that decide to turn on their left signal just as the light switches to solid green, screwing over all the straight-through people behind them.
I have a solution though.
I am going to patent a Vehicle Mounted Glue Cannon, that shoots out blobs of day-glow-pink-tinted PL-400 construction adhesive on to the back of these losers' vehicles. That way, other people down the road will know that the car ahead of them is likely to pull a similar move, allowing them a chance to avoid them.
The VMGC is also helpful in identifying 90KM-in-the-Fast-Lane-Drivers(day-glow-green), Self-Absorbed-Texters-Who-Cut-You-Off(day-glow-orange) and Slow-Mergers (day-glow-blue).
It would be a criminal offense to glob innocent people, but this should be easy to negate, as there would be cameras mounted on the muzzles to record the events leading up to all glue launches, in case of dispute.

Drives me insane! Insane, I tell you! Murphy's law with that one, eh? You'll be the second guy to a light and had you taken the right lane, and he indeed wants to go straight through, him and all the other cars in the left lane get all uppity about you being in the right lane, so they all pin it to make you wait after you're through the intersection. But when you drive with courtesy and pull up behind the guy in the left lane, inevitably, the guy behind you turns on his left signal (beforehand, like he should), then everyone starts filling up the right lane, then the punk ass in front puts on his left signal right before the light, and you end up sitting there for the whole light and are now at the back of the line, if you even make it through.
I'm sure this has been covered, but people that change lanes within an intersection, I hate that.
I think this has been covered in this thread already... but this is perfectly legal (although not recommended). I found out this was allowed a year after getting my licence, and it was glorious.
^Hmm...well, not quite. There is actually 4 lanes on 4th Ave. All traffic that is turning should have their own lanes.

There is also a sign that says "end one way" before the intersection. So can you still turn left on that red?
Yes because the traffic coming from the other direction has to turn at those lights, not go through the lights, you are still coming off of a one way road.
I have a question about an intersection that is has always been a sore spot for me.
Road A runs north/south
Road B runs east/west
Road A has no stop sign
Road B has a stop sign (2-way)
I am driving on Road B and I am turning onto Road A. Directionally I am facing east and trying to turn north (left turn). Another car comes to the intersection also driving on Road B, but is facing west (towards me) and is not turning, but is continuing to drive west. Make sense so far?
If I stopped at the stop sign first, do I have the right of way even if I am turning? Or does the other car that stopped after me have the right of way?
I hate cyclists who think they have the same right of way as pedestrians. A bicycle is a vehicle, and all the rules that apply to cars apply to them. No, I'm not required to yield to a cyclist at a crosswalk unless they get off their bike and walk it across.
As I'm sure I've mentioned in the car vs bike threads, on the flipside, I've often been put in the awkward position by drivers. For example 14th ave and 11th sw SW. 14th ave has a stop sign. I'm in the lane and I stop, wait for the cars to pass and then go on through. Often when I am waiting a driver will stop for me and wave me through. I'm now put in a bad position of forcing the other direction to stop or waving back at the driver who has now screwed up the traffic behind them.

This is the way I've learned to handle roundabouts from observation in Europe. It's a simple thing, left turn signal means you're going around, right means you're exiting. The new roundabouts in Canmore seem to really screw people up.
I'll also add a pet peave of highway drivers who can't drive a constant speed. It's hilly on the way out to Banff but pay attention to your speed. Don't rocket past me and then end up going 100 up the hill. It just means that me and my fellow cruise control drivers end up passing you repeatedly.

I believe that you would have the right of way.

LOL. See what I mean by confusion? I was just asking about this. See post 223 on the same page. I want someone to show me that my belief is correct.

Ha, this is really funny. That's the EXACT corner I was thinking of when I wrote my initial post. A few weeks ago my wife and I were heading Eastbound on 14th Ave and wanted to make a right turn South onto 11th Street. We came to a full stop at the stop sign, checked that no traffic was coming, then started to turn right. Just then a bicycle pulls out in front of us (going through the crosswalk), forcing us to slam on the brakes. The cyclist yelled at me saying that she had the right of way because she was using the crosswalk. I yelled back saying that she was a vehicle, not a pedestrian, and no, she does not have the right of way. She gave me the finger and sped off. A guy who was walking past and witnessed the whole thing said to me, "Some people just don't understand the rules of the road."

This is a common problem that's shared by many drivers (whether they're yielding to a cyclist or another motor vehicle) and something else that pisses me off. I hate people who think they're doing you a favour by waving you in when the rules dictate they should just keep driving.
I was once heading Northbound across the Bow on 14th St. and wanted to turn right onto 5th Ave NW (see the Google Street View link below). As per the clearly visible yield sign, I stopped and waited for the traffic passing straight through (imagine me as the white car with the yellow sign in the image). Some idiot decided that he'd be "courteous" and stop to wave me in, backing up traffic going through the intersection. I'm the one with the yield sign, moron!
Not at all, as I've said, I would rather start with LA over any of the other WC playoff teams. Bunch of underachievers who look good on paper but don't even deserve to be in the playoffs.
