The Avalanche are proud to announce the acquisition of Craig Anderson.

and here's the deal:

To Colorado:
Craig Anderson
Greg Campbell

To Carolina:
Brad Boyes
2011 1st(nyr)

Heres my thoughts on this: I needed to get rid of Huet, the leafs showed interest... I got some good assets for him (PM Bouchard, Afinigenov, Harding)

He was making 9 mill a season and was only a 69OVR, he is currently playing like total crap for the hawks so I had to jump on any interest I got since I had been shopping him since I became GM of the Avs.

Now I get a hot goaltender in Anderson who seems to fit really well with the Avs. He has always had REALLY good numbers in his career but was never given the starting job - now he has it and seems to be taking full advantage of it.

I ABSOLUTELY hated the fact that I had to give up Boyes and a 1st to get him but Campbell eases the pain a little. A young 3rd liner who seems to be a good PK type.

Flame away - the rebuilding continutes!

Good job Pat getting a goalie that should have reasonable OVR ratings next year. The combo of Anderson and Harding should be a good one.

I have to give kudos to Doug for his method of signing all the backup tenders during UFA period...it has really served him well.

This deal is pretty even, with the advantage to Doug for essentially getting these assets for free.

I mentioned this to Doug, I have to agree.... he got flamed for having a goaltender factory in Carolina but it has really worked out for him. Although he did have Anderson before last off-season he has still be able to turn these into nice pieces

Anderson wasn't a UFA for the record, I've had him for a couple years now.

I like this deal for the Canes. Anderson is doing well in Colorado but I really don't see that pace sticking. This is the type of price I would pay for Anderson about 50 games into the season.

However, all signs are pointing to him being the #1 in Colorado for a few years so as long as that materializes then this works out for the Avalanche.

Glad to see Boyes returning to the 'Canes to relive his past glory in the CPHL. It was tough to move him the first time but I needed to bring in some high end talent. Being able to add Boyes to the mix of forwards I have in Carolina helps with the rebuild I've been doing.

Getting a late 1st round pick two years from now will help replenish some of the youth I have in my system. Hopefully guys like Alzner and such will have made some dent of an impact by then.

Campbell was a tough one here for me because sometimes you have to find good sim guys and he was one that was outplaying some of my 9M players. But at the end of the day SIM who?

I think Anderson will work out fine for the Ava's, The question is did I make the right call in keeping LeClaire over him when I look back at it next season

I like this deal both ways. Anderson IMO is the real deal. Watching him the past few seasons in Florida, he put up great numbers. Boyes is a great player to have as well. Even deal.

You make Huet sound like he's the next Kevin Wanks... I needed someone who'd be rated well this season, and I don't think I gave up very much for him, considering the other pieces I got back as well.

Having said that, a) great pick up, b) interesting to see Doug's plan take shape. Supply and demand at it's finest.
