The only thing is, we have our full regular roster tonight, so we may need to recruit a good forward (aka someone like Dan) to play D and try and shut down that Fish guy....and by may need to, I mean we really need to. I'll ask Kyle if he plays D first.

Yeah that Fish guy needs to be laid out in open ice when he has his head down.

Well I'd be the one to do it, but my penalty total is already starting to add up, so I suggest we recruit someone on the team that has zero penalties.

I've finally replaced my visor. No more huge red and yellow gunk marks from face diving into James' goalie stick.

It looks like everyone's coming out tonight, but can you come out tomorrow night if anyone can't make it?

I am available tomorrow night. Off to the Flames game tonight, so I couldn't play anyway. I just find it difficult to resist internet bravado.

I find it's only some of our spares that no show. All our full time players tend to show if they say they will.

Puckers get the W. Would have been 6-4 except jar_e packed it in and stood at centre while the other guy grabbed the puck, skated in and scored with 0.1 seconds left.

Saving his energy for tomorrow night's tilt, he says.

laugh.

Good game fellas. See you tomorrow.

We've only been a team for about a year, and they way it's worked so far is regular members get first dibs at their spot every year (winter + summer).

If a guy can't play summer (usually about 2-3 players) one of the spares gets a crack to play full time, but the other full-time guy still has a guaranteed spot next winter, if he wants it.

Basically, spares are usually given preference to open spots. But, we've got a few new guys who weren't spares last year, so it can be done.

What level can you play?

Plus, if that's you -- or someone you've fought -- in your avatar, you may already be guaranteed a spot. We need a good goon.

Thanks for the info!

As far as level...I have no idea...good? havn't been the worst person on the ice anyway

I never played organized hockey until I was 22 (25 now)...just grew up playing on rinks in the winter and shinny times since grade 7

played SAIT intramurals, play drop in shinny at southland whenever I can, I would be classified as a defensive...either d-man or forward...I like to play in front of the net if on a forward line

Pros:

fair size, good on the boards/out front
block a lot of shots (split/broke my finger two weeks ago, finished my shift before taking my glove off at the bench and realizing what happened)
effort is always there, tough, energizer type

Cons:

not a top scorer but I have potted some key ones
I tend to not shoot too much, but tips and rebounds I am all over
work in the field currently so not around town a whole lot,

yeah that's me lol

I gather from the thread you run 12 forwards 4 d-men...paying for playing as a spare...run the team through email...and play all over and many different ice times.

I have no defense. It was funny seeing their faces when they scored and realized they only had 0.1 seconds left bahahahah.

And just looking at the standings...this is a huge game tonight against the Springbank Cows....

They're second in the league with a division best 1.30 goals against on average. That's insane for rec hockey.
