If I make a post that I think is good, insightful, or simply witty and funny then I'll check to see if I got thanks for it 
I'm nowhere near the top of the list for thanks. At the same time I think of myself as a 3rd liner on the site. I'm not a superstar that will give the great and epic posts on a consistant basis, but I try and round out the site with a solid contribution.
As great as the posters with 700+ thanks are, and don't get me wrong the site wouldn't be worth a lick without them, it also needs the slew of us that have 25-50+ that offer a fresh perspective from time to time.

Haha, I've been laying low on the Apple front lately. I matured passed the newly-converted stage. 
Aside from that, I don't think I've ever had a post with more than 10 thanks...
