For those who are fans of Matthew Good, this will be a great couple of months!
Matt is playing the Jack Singer Concert Hall in Calgary in November. His first concert on November 15th is sold out. His second concert on November 18th still has a few tickets left, I am going to be there for this one!
"Vancouver", his new album, came out just a few days ago and I am very impressed with it. I really enjoy almost all of his music but it has been a long time since once of his albums caught on with me so quickly. I would suggest that anyone who is a Matt Good fan go out and grab the new album.
If you want to preview some of the songs, you can find them on YouTube.
I have tickets to the November 18 show. I'll (probably) have a new baby at the time, so my fingers are crossed that I can still make it. If not I'll be auctioning off two tickets to the show! I've really been enjoying the album thus far and look forward to seeing many of the songs live.
Empty's Themepark may be able to crack my top 10 matt good songs of all time ... I love it so hard.
I'll always be a fan of the guy due to the strength of his first 2 albums and his bashing of the Nickleback ######, but his recent material is a bit boring.
His songs have changed from when he was with MGB but I just love all of his music.
I love his lyrics and the choices for the pacing of his songs and the beats he uses.
... and the thing I love most about "Vancouver" is that this may be my favourite album since he went solo... either this one or "White Light Rock And Roll Review".

Huge thanks to Dion for the signature!
For some reason I just can't get into The Vancouver National Anthem. I like Pete Yorn too, but it just doesn't do it for me.
The guitar picking part 3/4 of the way through The Boy Who Could Explode makes me happy. That and guitar kicking in during Empty's Theme Park are both moments that force me to head nod and zone out like I'm buzzed.
I have been following Matthew Good for years. I loved his early stuff and his albums just got better and better, with "Underdogs" and "Beautiful Midnight" both being stellar. he fell off a bit with "The Audio of Being" and then peaked with "Avalanche". Avalanche is one of the most complete albums I have ever heard, and rates in my top 10 all-time favourites. I thought he really declined after that though, even though I kept buying everything up until "Hospital Music." Sounds like he's come back swinging - I'll have to give "Vancouver" a listen.
