Schremp disease. Oiler fans are finally coming around to realize Hemsky is not half the player they hyped him up to be. He's still fairly good, but despite assurances, he does not, in fact, have more talent in his pinky finger than anyone on the Flames.

I just read an interesting study about cats that says the same thing. The premise was "Are cats as manipulative as people think they are?" It discussed the history of the domestic cat, and part of the conclusion as that they have evolved to imitate the sound of human babies crying.

Yah, my cat has taken that evolutionary step - he kinda starts off low down in the back of his throat, and then rips up through the registers to end on a long high screechy note like a trophy wife whose nail appointment just got cancelled, "rrrrrroooooooooooEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWW!" And loud, damn is he loud. Not baby-loud, but babies generally don't get right up close before starting up, so the perceived annoyance factor is about the same.

He'll also talk to me with little blurts of sound when he's feeling sociable, which I'd imagine is also evolved behaviour, as is the little "Mrow!" when I play "staring contest" with him and he thinks I'm getting a little tiresome.

I wonder if "evolved" is really the right term, though - they've been bred, which is similar but not quite the same. Not to the extent dogs have been molded by humans, but still there has been considerable interference by humans making purposeful matches to get desired characteristics. Although to be fair, I'm not sure banshee-like wailing was ever "desired", but is rather a by-product of choosing chattier/noisier cats over quieter ones.

My friend's dog is hilarious. Whenever he hears a siren, he howls. Like the full-on wolf howl. OWWWWoooooooooo!

I wish the alarm button on my vehicle's remote was a little tougher to press. On Friday I was putting my stuff in my vehicle for work at 6:30AM when, due to however I was holding my keys, I somehow depressed the alarm button. So you get the whole noise and light show that takes you a few seconds to press the stupid button again. It annoys the hell out me on the rare occasion I do it during daylight but that early in the morning is even worse.

So after I've pulled out and waiting for my garage door to close, I notice my next door neighbour checking out his SUV and then going inside. I'm guessing he heard my alarm.

Hey, it's not like it was on purpose. And generally people don't want to punch someone as tiny as me.

I don't know if it's worth taking things further with this guy. You're only going to get yourself in trouble. I know what you're feeling, but is it worth it?

Were you choking him with your hands? That's not the proper way to go about things. Take your belt off and use it to choke him. Makes it harder for people to pull you off when you've got something to hold onto.

That was your best chance to give him what he deserved and you screwed it up. Now he knows you're coming for him and you could probably get a mulligan for going in a violent rage once but not twice.

Off to my brother's for Thanksgiving dinner, and I'm already cringing from anticipation of all the Italian in-laws who think a conversation needs to be shouted over top of all the other shouted conversations. It's like eating inside a giant Mixmaster.

You are very annoying. How you ever came up with "The Fonz" is beyond me.

Arthur Fonzarelli was a cool, hip character. You... are... not.

I went shopping today and had a great bargain hunting kind of afternoon.

I found 3 pairs of jeans, a pair of dress slacks, a pair of pajama pants, and five new shirts, and I only spent $124.

Yay for sales.

When someone buys me a plane ticket to Calgary

And a ticket to a Flames game. And also, I need my passport first.
