Smoking makes you neither cool nor does it make you a loser. It is what it is. Get over yourself.

I don't appreciate being called a hypocrite as I am not old enough to have ever smoked in my workplace.
Smokers have done everything asked of them by government (largely) and yet non-smokers such as yourself still complain about everything.
The 15 seconds of exposure you have to cigarette smoke a couple of times a week is not going to kill you, so my advice is deal with it.

If smoking was allowed in the workplace, would you smoke?

We wouldn't need smoking bylaws if smokers showed some consideration. It's the "militant" ones that give the other smokers a bad name.

Then you'll have to excuse me if fart beside you on a crowded C Train. Enjoy the smell

Odd. I don't think they're losers, being one and all, but I do appreciate your input.
That being said, the ones I worry about are the people who refuse to follow basic written language rules like, say, capitalizing words or people who seem unable to spell everyday single syllable words correctly. I wouldn't call them losers, but I do wonder if they always remember to grab their helmets on the way to the store. Buying more glue to eat has got to be a hazardous endeavour.

You know something, I am willing to bet there are a lot of things we will agree on rico and Dion and this is not one of them. Rather than getting more and more angry, I am at this point going to agree to disagree.
Have a great night.
For the record, no I would not smoke in the workplace. When I was smoking, I did not even smoke in my own home - a personal choice, not mandated by my wife.

Most of the people on that list smoked before the negative health effects were truly understood.

I cannot stand smoking. The only time my wife gave me the green light to pile drive someone was due to a smoker throwing his empty pack on the ground. I promptly made him pick it up.
I should never have to smell smoke or see a but on the ground. Period. I think smoking should be banned in ANY PUBLIC PLACE. Go somewhere else to kill yourself.
The second place I work out each week is in a community hockey arena that has a place we rent out in it. You would not believe the trashy people smoking just outside the front doors, as kids, parents, guys playing hockey and the rest of the guys training walk in and out through their smoke. One night we got sick of them and gave them heck and made them feel really bad for what they were doing. It is like they know what they are doing is wrong yet do it anyways.

It's also a very nasty addiction that many struggle to overcome. My late uncle tried for years to quit but in the end lung cancer got him. A very painful way to die

Actually this is right from what I know. People living longer causes more strain on the health care system than smokers dying.

Terribly sorry sir. I was serious. You think smokers are losers, I think that people who can't follow the most basic of English language rules eat glue. It's only fair that we all get to make uninformed judgments on people we don't know.

What a smoking list! Half of them are dead and likely all of them do not want to be remembered as smokers...

Many started in thier teens - some for stupid reasons. Fact is many of those same smokers are trying to quit but are having very difficult time due to the addictive nature of nicotine. It certainly doesn't make them stupid. I have a lot of respect for those who are trying to quit. I'm just very thankful I never started and don't have to go through what some are trying to do.

I don't like post like these, I make lots of mistakes. Sometimes I type to fast, sometimes I don't proof read. But 99% of the time someone makes a spelling mistake you know exactly what they are saying, yet their argument is negated because of a grammar error.
I have a problem with this because I have dyslexia, and because of it I have a hard time spelling. Sometimes I write different words than I'm actually thinking I'm writing, and sometimes when I proof read my brain reads the word I meant to write not the word that is written. So if you are going to bitch about someones writing in a forum maybe think twice and calm down. there could be an actual reason behind it, but usually it is because it is a forum not a thesis so really people like you need to get a grip on reality. If I write a novel sure go ahead and rip it apart, but judging someone on forum is idiotic.
