1 more Trade - Danny B comes to Duckville
As the title said, before Duck GM went into hibernation for 10 days, he completed 1 final move in preparation for the beginning of preseason action. The need for another top 6 forward was quite evident for the Ducks. Danny Briere is proven scorer at the NHL level and is currently in the prime of his career. We are hoping he can find a way to stay healthy and return to his previous scoring numbers.
Either way, Sid the kid was very happy to get some help. The Ducks now have 2 solid scoring lines they can send out, though rumors have it that the head boss still has his eye on a couple other upgrades.
Here is how the trade breaks down.
To Ana:
Daniel Briere (8 mill UFA grid deal, can he stay healthy?)
Cap
To Nash:
Mikhael Grabovski (770k, 48 pt rookie season, how does he do this year)
Jay Pandolfo (79DF, 4 mill salary, UFA in 1 yr)
Angelo Esposito (former 1st rd pick, can he keep his attitude in check?)
STL 2nd 2010 (guaranteed 1st pick of the 2nd rd)
Thanks to Vic for the fun talks, we hope this fits the needs for both teams.

I had a reasonable amount of interest in Briere, and in some ways this was a tough deal for me to make. In the end this comes down to some good assets coming for the future. It doesn't save me a huge amount of money (or any!), but gives me Grabovski, the 2nd and Esposito to work with down the road. Pandolfo can play entire games...errr I mean play when we are out-manned!

We admit we were one of the teams who had interest in Briere. I really like this deal for Anaheim. Gives them a solid top couple of lines.

Briere carries with him a buttload of risk - will he stay healthy and even if he does how the heck will he get ice time in Philly?
Not a fan of his at all - good deal for Nash.

Briere had 95 pts in 2006-2007. When he's healthy he can put up points.

Briere gets associate with being a bad player for how much money he makes and the fact that he was injured for a lot of last year. But in 07-08 he had 71 points and was a key part of the Flyers turn around. He also came up with 9 goals and 16 points in the Flyers playoff run to the Conference finals. He won't be putting up no 95 points again, but he can still put up 70, and most years that will rank among the top 20 for NHL centers.

Short term Ducks win this deal, long term Predators received some decent assets. Hower Angelo is a risky fellow for sure.

Well, I don't really like any of the players involved in the trade. I think Grabovsky is soft and won't ever get a ton of pts, and Esposito isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer. I just don't see him panning out.
At the same time, while Briere is a 69 OVR, he carries wirth him injury risk so obviously the return will be lower.
Basically, the trade is a lose-lose for me...sorry guys just my opinion.

You hurt my feelings you big jerk.
I should maybe re-phrase, I don't like it from either side but if they are happy with the returns then good on em'.

Sorry next time I'll offer him 3 5ths in 2011 for his 1st in 2010! A trade more similar to your liking!

That's a Flyers deal there, I'd at least offer 3 4ths.

cmon simmer, you got no principals and we know that.
Oh I gave him first rounders in 2011, much better than your 4ths or Ravi's 5ths.

I think the entire league needs to put a trade embargo against the Habs, Ducks, Flyers, Wild and Penguins. Let them kick the crap out of each other in trades and not improve their teams by beating up on the rest of us. Step two.....Profit.
