I'll be in SJPR (thats my new acronym for it) for two days starting next week. Basically, my fiancee and I leave on our honeymoon next Saturday. We'll land in SJPR at 11pm. The next day, we have to be on our cruise by about 3 or 4 p.m. So my question is, in the short time we have there in the morning and early afternoon, what are must sees? Our hotel is in Old San Juan, so we'll probably be restricted to staying around there due to time constraints. Any advice would be appreciated. I think we may have a full day when the cruise gets back, so that may be the time to explore a little further. I'm a big fan of old castles, buildings, military outposts. I'm sure there's quite a few given the history.

Thanks in advance.

There's two very cool forts right in old San Juan. One on the western tip and one on the north. Old San Juan is like a Spanish Old Quebec City. Just walk around, check out the forts, old buildings and plaza's.

I had about the same amount of time from my cruise in February, we walked up into Old San Juan and there is a really nice fort - San Cristobal which is amazing as the sun is setting. Afterwards we walked around a bit and explored the cool streets and and plazas as well. Stopped at a little sidewalk cafe for a beer as well. It is a cute little area and I really enjoyed the walk around the fort

Here's old San Juan in GM.

http://maps.google.com/maps/mm?ie=UT...26093&t=h&z=15

The Fort on the western tip where all the grass is has some very cool roads and fort walls along the southern shore. The other fort is where it says Plaza des armas de San Cristobal.

If you are leaving Carnival or Holland America, you will probably leaving from the pier just south of old San Juan. If you are Royal Caribbean or Celebrity you will probably be leaving from the pier just North of the Airport although I did see 2 RC ships on the other side when I was there.

I thought you were talking about the board games that go by the same name. Puerto Rico is an awesome board game.

Just wander around old San Juan and see the fort.
