It's amazing how far we've come with these games since NHL93. It's not about scoring, we want more realistic shotblocking, sprawling, defensive systems and realism based on player ratings. It's truly astonishing. I never thought I would be watching a briefing for a video game like I was in training for a job or CSIS.

Is there a legal reason why they don't use Kipper's actual helmet graphic? Or are they just lazy/ignorant/stupid?
Been like that one since NHL 08 or even earlier.

Which I think is absolutely stupid. If I design something for someone and they pay me they should be able to do whatever the hell they want with it. It should be up to the goalies whether the masks are in the game.

Legal dispute between the NHLPA and helmet artists prevents the developers from using authentic masks with the license. They would have to pay for each individually I believe.

Someone on HF posted a link to some German site, that supposedly has good insider sources, and is right 99% of the time regarding XBOX Live Marketplace releases, and it said that the NHL 10 Demo will be available 5 AM EST on XBOX this thursday, so if it's true it'll be available around now, and I'll go check actually..
Edit: Not out yet, if it's not out by tomorrow morning (a few hours) then

It's up for xbox live right now.
quick impressions:
-boardplay is a great addition
-fighting is a lot better than nhl09
-they moved push puck to the left trigger!
-I have noticed slowdown when play happens in the lower right. Happened twice already and I haven't even finished the period. (be ap pro)
-scored a goal and took a penalty and was drafted by the wild (6th)
-hardcore passing is hardcore
-rock you like a hurricane is playing
-more slowdown in be a pro down low
-when you call for a fight you face wash the guy
-after scrum whistles are hilarious. If you start pushing the guy the ref comes over then more teamates join and start pushing and slashing. Usually ends up with a 4on4. On a delayed penalty no additional penalties were called.
-i think they took away the hook button
-can catch the puck in the air
-in the controls it says left stick up is for "speed burst". didn't notice it during play.

I like that you have full control of your passes, but it seems really slow. Is there a way to get more zip on your passes? or is it one speed for everything?

Ya I thought holding it down longer would make it faster and it does but the cpu can still pass faster? Touch passing maybe? I cannot beat Pittsburgh using hardcore passing yet. It's easier using the be a pro cam than classic/ice with it.

Ugh... I hope that it's really minor, and that's why it went unnoticed during play. I'm a fan of alot of other "arcadey" feeling to NHL games (massive hits, etc), but speed burst always bugged me.
