TBQH I have no idea. I just know that Palm feels it is entitled to use iTunes to manage music etc for the Pre. Much to the dismay of Apple.

I haven't had that happen yet. Is there something weird that you're doing? Syncing between multiple accounts, computers, etc?
I love iTunes for the Mac, but I will agree with you on the Windows front. I hate the iTunes for Windows app. It's right up there with... I don't know, AOL or something. Slow, bloated, and inefficient doesn't even begin to describe the Windows version.
Runs beautifully on a Mac, though. It's a very interesting love/hate thing.
(This isn't a PC/Mac thing, btw. Of course the app will run better on a Mac, it's a native Mac app built by Apple. iTunes running like ass on Windows is not a PC issue.)

Just got a Nike + sent to me from a friend, wondering if it's compatible with an iPhone 3G, or if I have to dust off my good old iPod video?

Yes it is. The 3G has a built-in Nike+ receiver, you just have to enable it in the settings. All you need is the transmitter for your shoe. I think you can buy them for about $25 at the Apple Store. (Edit: Although, there's probably one in the package your friend sent you.)

Well seems like after some research, and trying it out, the Nike + only works with iPod Nano's, iPod Touch's and iPhone 3Gs.

It works for the iPod Touch but not the iPhone 3G. Ridiculous.

It arrived! Operation "upgrade to 3gs" is complete ... only took about 5 weeks but it finally showed up today. Just realized at 32 gigs it's the biggest ipod i've ever owned. I bought a 30 right before the 80's came out.

Ya, put me in the WDF category about that little factoid.
Russic, how are we enjoying the 3Gs?

Speaking of WDF moments, the apple in-ear buds that come with a remote/mic are now fully functional on my 3gs. For some reason the volume on the remote only works with the 3gs. I just can't figure out what's so unique about the gizzards that the 3g can't utilize the volume control. At least I don't have to worry about it anymore.
The 3GS is really impressing me so far. It's surreal to have an app open instantly. One of the more important things for me was the storage upgrade. I went from an 8 gig to a 32 gig. I haven't had storage like that in some time, so it's not easy to get used to! I spent 2 hours last night going through my itunes and dropping in albums here and there (Finally my collection of Matt Good is back in my pocket). I look at my capacity today and wonder if I was too picky. I have all the music that's important to me loaded and I could still fit the entire 2nd season of lost on there.
I love ( love) the voice commands. In typical Apple fashion they took their sweet ass time getting this feature out, but it works so well it's shocking. My wife has a rather unique name (nobody ever pronounces it right) and it picked up on it immediately. I wish it could play specific songs though, that would be bad-ass.
I was also impressed that the restore process reloaded all my apps. I manually manage all my content (which makes itunes 100X's more usable imo), so I thought I'd have to manually download each one again. Pleasant surprise.
Video upload directly to youtube or mobileme is fantastic. I can't tell you how many times in the last month I've thought to myself "If only I had that damn 3gs I could take a video of this".
Edit: Jumpin' Jesus the browser is faster. I hadn't used it until this afternoon, but wow!

You know I probably wouldn't even recommend it unless you were in such a position that every single upgrade was something you were in need of. I am perpetually in a state of being lost, so I use maps constantly and the map orientating to where I'm facing is huge. I ride the train for almost 2 hours a day, so capacity is also key. Genius is possibly my favorite iTunes feature, and it's pretty much useless with a small library of songs.
If you don't fall into that small category of people who have a set of needs like that and are unnecessarily anal then I would probably recommend you wait until next year.
