I completely agree. If Black people had done those unspeakable evils in America to white people, then white people would have a reason to start white rights advocacy groups that campaign for equal rights, or white pride events that serve to show people that white people are equal and proud of who they are despite a history of society marginalizing them and humiliating them, and making it the law that they are sub-human and do not deserve equality.

White people - as a whole - in America simply have not suffered the way Black people have. No one is stopping you (or shaming you) from being proud of your ancestral heritage, but it is extremely repulsive to me when people ignorantly say there is no need for rights and advocacy organizations and pride events for black people, gay people, jewish people, or any other group of people that have suffered, and continue to suffer injustices in society.

ANYWAY, the clowns who drive around with a Confederate flag in Alberta aren't doing it for southern pride or to announce their admiration for General Lee, they are doing it as not-so-subtle way of saying "I'm a redneck and I have certain opinions about the colour of some folks skin, and I'm proud of it".

I am not saying racism is isolated to one specific group, I am saying that society has put up barriers for certain minority groups. These organizations that fight to eliminate these barriers are not anti-white, anti-straight, or anti-christian, they are simply trying to eliminate those barriers, and help alleviate the disparity that those barriers caused.

The blacks are not being held back by lingering racism as much as they are being held back by their own culture. Broken homes,booze,drugs,domestic violence, and the mentality that they are owed something by society has caused them to be left in a cycle of failed generations. Just compare them to the Hispanics. Hispanics are just as likely to experience racial profiling and discrimination as blacks and yet they are rapidly succeeding in all areas of American society. Before the Hispanics were the Italians and before the Italians were the Irish. All started out poor and on the outside looking in and all climbed that mountain and claimed their American dream. I realize the later three didn't start out as slaves but, neither did any black in American today.

My point is that black America isn't being given any favours by being treated like a spoiled baby who just skinned their knee. They need to pick themselves up, ignore the pain, and make their own way.

Obviously I was painting with a broad brush. There are blacks that are successful and people of other ethnic groups(including whites) who blame the world for everything that is wrong in their lives. But what I said is generally true. It's time the black community looked to themselves instead of blaming white America for their failures.

Racism is not about having stereotypes or even being a jerk towards other people based on outward characteristics; that's discrimination.

Racism is about the systematic oppression of a people based on ethnicity. It absolutely requires that one group be more socially powerful than another group for it to exist. This is why the statement "reverse racism" is meaningless.

Black people can't be racist. They can be discriminatory jerks, but they can't be racist.
