I can assure you I am losing fat and gaining muscle. I am doing a very strenuous workout routine from a Men's Health book that I am getting very good results with. I've lost 30 pounds since April and and am so much thinner that I need to replace all my clothes now. I have also (re)gained a lot of strength.

I've given up with the whole carbs/protein/fats ratios blah blah blah. I believe it does jack squat. Sorry.

You are incorrect. Ratios (and timing) can have a huge impact. I got into shape ignoring them for the most part but I eventually hit a plateau. Watching my macronutrients got me past it quick.

While I don't place much importance on the actual ratio, I do think one should make an effort to lower their carbs, and increase fat/protein intake.

Calories are the 'blah, blah, blah' to me.

Ok, I'm going to say $#@$@#$@#$, I just got done working out and I have a sharp throbbing pain in my pec, and my chest just turned blue and yellow. Anyone got some pain killers that I can borrow.

If your exercise routine is up to snuff, and you don't want to model underwear for a living, you can pretty much ignore diet altogether (assuming you don't ordinarily consume chocolate cake 3 meals a day).

I wouldn't worry about any of that stuff if the exercise alone is working. But there may come a day that your progress just hits a brick wall. In fact, if you keep up your progress, it's guaranteed that day will come. Then you may want to look at what you eat in greater depth.

I apologize. Didn't know you had feelings.

Wait till you go to bed, and you're trying to find the one position where all those muscles you beat the hell out of don't ache and keep you from falling asleep.

you're still a wuss though.

for a good fibre hit, pick up some psyllium fibre husk from a health food store. You have to keep it away from moisture. It's the active ingredient in metamucil. It's quite cheap as well.

Put a teaspoon in a glass, add about one ounce of water and shoot it. Then immediately chase it with another full glass of water (or more if you can handle it). Don't take it with OJ, as it makes me barf.

I find that if you take it in the morning, it helps you feel full.

You can also mix it into things like oatmeal if you wanted to. I would stay away from the really, really fine powder though. It makes it too difficult to mix into things because it clumps together with any sort of moisture.

I'm not saying these are perfect solutions but something to think about. I would rather see someone eat a bowl of cereal compared to not having breakfast at all.

I need chalk.

NoWorries, do you use it? I've gotten up to a 450# DL without using chalk, but now that I'm working on the 5x program, my grip is failing me after rep 2.

Hey, so I'm doing pretty well everyone. By my count it's been around 2.5 weeks and I've lost about 8lbs!! I have changed my eating habits, been running about 6kms 5 times per week, drinking lots of water etc.

My next question, and I'm sure it's a stupid one, is should I be working out my abs to lose my belly fat? I heard somewhere it doesn't matter what muscles you work out when burning fat, just when you are building muscle...

Nope, working your abs isn't going to help you lose belly fat.

Can't spot reduce, and belly fat is the last to go.

I found a high fiber breakfast cereal that doesn't taste like ass....it is actually decent.
It is called Fiber-1 (honey clusters), has 260cal/cup including milk, and 13g of fiber/serving, 6g sugar per serving.....
Made me slightly gassy....
I will test a more hardcore high fiber cereal next week.......
