Default Life is Beautiful

I just got home from an amazing run in the gorgeous sunshine outside on a chillaxious Friday and I was once again reminded of how beautiful and easy our lives are.

We spend so much time complaining and bickering about basically non-existent problems and sometimes we forget how awesome it is to be here. Sure, tragedies do exist (check out the drunk driving thread for some sad examples), but generally life is easy. If those young adults who were killed by drunk drivers were able to speak from the grave, the first thing they'd say is that life is short, so enjoy it. They really are proof of how short it can be.

Some personal examples of my life being beautiful:

-Just spend a week in Canmore helping paint my friend's million dollar home, while mountain biking, drinking, and getting free room and board. And I even got paid for it!

-Lost my wallet three times so far. Everytime it has been returned. One time I lost it in Edmonton with $70 cash inside, and when it was returned the cash was still in it! (minor miracle, especially in Edmonton!)

-Lost my passport in NZ while on a crazy adventure. Got my new passport in the mail the day before my flight back to Canada!

-The economy is finally starting to turn around. So far this week I've saved about $200 in travel expenses thanks to the rising Canadian dollar!

-Going to Spain in September for $116 thanks to cmyden and his amazing travel deal!

-And we can all agree that the Flames getting Bouwmeester for nothing is something we as a group can celebrate!

So this thread is for all of your stories of life being amazing. Enough pessimism, it's getting lame. Time for some positivity! Share your stories!

My wife is due with our first child August 2nd.

Summer is here and that means golfing season, bbq's, patios, cold beer, fishing, floating the bow etc...

Plus we all won the life lottery (or at least a lot of did) just by being born in Canada. Compared to the way millions of people around the world have it we are beyond fortunate. I'm thankful for that everyday.

Life is beautiful!!

On the negative side

My golf clubs were stolen in early July and I haven't been able to play since.
The Via Rail strike is upsetting my travel plans.
I have to fly to Toronto on the evening of July 29, get in there at midnight so I have to stay the night in Toronto.
The next day I have to drive 3 hours to Belleville and then immediately turn around and drive all the way back to Calgary in order to be back here by August 3 which means I have 4 and a half days to travel 3600 kms. Not looking forward to it at all.

On the good side

I don't have to do all the driving by myself as my wife and I will split the chore.
I may have the opportunity, if time permits, to see Mt Rushmore in S. Dakota
On August 8 I move into my new house in Okotoks.
I sold my Rav4

Looked at places in Cimarron. Ended up buying a beautiful house in Sheep River Heights (at the far end of Big Rock Trail) on a cul-de-sac there.

Looking forward to living on a cul-de-sac. Right now I live on a major thorough fare in Woodbine and the traffic noise is unbelievable.

My new house is a nice 3 level walk-out (lower level is finished) that backs on to a park area.

Cool. You won't be able to sleep for a while it's so quiet.
Trust me, every noise the house makes will wake you up.
But after you get used to it, you'll wonder what took you so
long to move.

I just broke up with my girlfriend, I broke my leg and hip getting hit by a car as I dove infront of it to save my dog, which was unsuccessful...the dog died anyways. I've recenetly being diagnosed with 17 various AIDS, 13 of which caught while being thrown on a painball machine in a local pub where a group of middle aged men had their way with me, I'm being haunted by an evil clown that has recently reappeared after it tormented me for years as a child, the t-rex absolutely REFUSES to eat the goat and put on a good show for me at the park, dustin boyd has yet to sign and I just spilled my beer...

...but...

we got bouwmeester!

- jokes aside, it's a good point. Life is great, but could use a few more rainbows and leprechauns if you ask me -

after demanding a trade from the sens, heatley decided he would still rather play for them than the oilers.. not once, but twice.

both of those nights and threads were epic, and to me, life is beautiful.

I'm back at home visiting my parents and have been staying there for a week now. I bought a mouse at future shop for $100 and I found it didn't fit my hand very well and ordered one on sale from dell. I was going to return my mouse from futureshop but couldn't find my box. So I ask my Dad if he threw it out or placed it elsewhere, but this was a couple days ago and he forgot. I searched for a good 30 minutes around the house but came up empty, I actually got quite upset at my Dad. He tried looking too and said he would reimburse me the $100.
Cooling off, I went on CP and came upon this thread... thank god. It really reminded me It's only $100, he does all the chores in the house and doesn't ask me to do any. What more can I ask for? It's ridiculous how much I took him for granted. It's apology time

It's a good day. My staff finally pulled together as a real team today and we made a crap load of money as a result.
My house is sold, possession is soon which means it's almost money time, AND after a brutal 4th quarter and 1st quarter we finally found out today that we will be recieving a quarterly bonus for last quarter. FINALLY, we've found a way to beat this stuid recession.
Life is good!!
Oh and i've been home for 5 minutes and i'm already half way thru a margarita. YUM!

I just saw the Hip last night for the 25+ time and they rocked.

My 3 week old little girl is well-mannered and just a joy.

My 2 year old son is growing up to be a wonderful kid and learns so much every day, it is astounding.

I have a fridge full of beer and a huge family get together tomorrow, my family is awesome!

It's Friday!
