Default Where to recycle/get ride of my old hard cover textbooks

I have searched google and it seems that I can't recycle hard cover textbooks. I have a number of books that I want to get rid of because I am moving and they are of no use to me. Does anyone know where I can drop these off? It seems like I would be throwing out a lot of paper if I just threw them in the dumpster... although I don't want to go ripping all the pages out because that would be too much work.

Have you tried selling them? If they're remotely recent there's probably a used bookstore that will buy them, and even if they're not I'm sure you can find somebody who will take them off your hands.

Yeah, after I got out of University I sold the ones that I could. They wouldn't take the others. I do have a set of Level I and Level II CFA books if anyone is interested?

I had a few like that, at the end I just ripped out all the pages and recycled the pages and tossed the cover/spine. The environment better be grateful.

I thought it may have to come to that... seriously though, what has mother nature done for me recently. Ungratefuly SOB.

Perhaps the homeless could use them for weeks of kindling

If you're going to donate the paper for kindling to the homeless, make sure you put it into Methanolic's blue bin.

Call the UofC Bookstore, they used to have a program to send the books to an African country.

I would keep them. If you ever bcome homeless those pages make for great insulation in the winter. And have the bonus of reading material

You could just take them to the bookstore and if they don't want to buy them just 'forget' to pick them up off the counter.

When I ditched a bunch of my old textbooks, I took them to Goodwill. They were more than happy to take them.

Other places I tried that aren't worth it are the public library (they don't have room to store them) or used bookstores (you spend more time running around to find the one place that will take them than is worth it).
