I heard on the radio this morning something about "Big" which I guess is MS answer to google search. Also something about a free office product in 2010 I think?
Certainly nothing shattering.

It's been around for a few weeks now I believe so I doubt this is the announcement. If it is then it might be an official announcement but nothing to really hype up.

Really?
I don't know a single developer that uses OSX - its either Windows or Linux.
I guess it just depends on which people you know...

Wow. Looks strikingly similar to something that the entire planet has already been using for five years...

lol, the news was about a web based version of office 2010.
This company is truly hilarious. Bill Gates is lucky he had all that backing early on. There's no way they would be emerging into the market with tech lag like this nowadays.
...That's right, nowadays.

Bing is not bad... I tried Googling some stuff with it last week and found what I was looking for.

Interesting development. I do 90% of my non-day-job writing on google docs, but it's really coming along slowly in terms of feature development (I can't believe there's still no page view except for printing). A fully-featured online version of Office would force Google to get more serious about developing google apps into a more fully-featured suite. That said, if MS rolls out something that is not head and shoulders above Google Apps, it'll pretty much be a disaster. I'll probably give it a try.

Well, I develop in PHP, Python and Objective C (iPhone).
Until Microsoft learns how to code a proper terminal (the windows term including powershell is a joke), I will not use Windows as a development platform. It's only use is to develop for .NET - and there are enough code monkey's out there working on that platform so I can focus on more interesting things...
I've been to a few development conferences now. At each, 60-70% were running with Mac's. When .NET is removed from the equation, it seems most developers prefer alternative systems such as OS X and Linux. The only developers that use Windows that I know do so only because their product is locked to .NET.
While I think .NET is a solid development platform, I do not approve of how it is locked only to Windows. I also hold the same opinion of Apple and it's refusal to allow development of iPhone apps on anything other then OS X. I'll concede that both companies have serious technological considerations to overcome to port things to other systems, but I can still dream of platform independence right?

Ha! Yeah, it was just a dig at how they seem to force the entire focus of the OS onto that one, single button. As someone who has spent a few years installing, fixing, supporting, configuring Windows... that friggin Start button has been the bane of my IT existence.
I realize there's a better Start menu in Vista and 7, but man-oh-man I love Spotlight.

We have 3 companies that we contract web development out to, and they all seem to be OS/X shops now. On the other hand, most of the guys I know doing corporate work are still using Windows or Linux. As for you OS/X web guys, just remember to test you stuff using IE on Windows before going live. This has become a bit of a problem as of late.

iPhone apps.
I'd also support our radar systems (java based) on my Mac, but my IT people won't let the Mac's be connected to our company intranet, they have it on it's own island because they consider the Mac's to be the security threat rather than all our Windows computers.

Interesting. I honestly would never have guessed OSX usage would be that high other than people developing for Apple specific platforms like the iPhone. Seems everyone I know is either on windows or linux.
Unfortunately, I'm mostly stuck in .NET but recently have tried to get some python into the mix for some projects.
