So what is a good poker site? How do I put some money into one of them?

Go to http://www.pocketfives.com for a rundown of various sites and some great tips. You can use a credit card to deposit on most site. I'm on Bodog, Party Poker, FullTilt and PokerStars. FullTilt has free lessons...but you do use real money for those practice games, although of course you can use play money on all of these too.

PokerStars is the only site I have tried. I think it is an awesome site. Just use my credit card to add money. You can play with play money as well. I used that to learn how everything works. Then you can play for real money at various levels. As little as 1 cent.

In your opinion how do the other sites compare to PokerStars. Which do you like the best?
Can I assume you have played for Flames tickets on PokerStars?

I play on FT (mainly), but do play on stars every once in a while.
I like FT's tournaments better than PS.
I really want to try playing on bodog, but canadians are the only ones not allowed to sign up and create an account.
PKR is completely different from the other sites, in that it is 3D. You get to customize your avatar, etc. The main problem I have with that site is that the servers are hosted in the english channel, and it caters to the european players. Almost all of their decent tournaments start at terrible times for north americans (unless you don't work during the day).

I have cycled through virtually all the sites over the past 4 years, but have always returned to PokerStars - best layout, most players, pleased with customer service. Of course, it's all rigged.

I do find the rediculous amount of bad beats is greater on Poker Stars than Full Tilt but that may be reflective purely on the level of play that occurs on each site. More overall players and you are obviously going to get more players who chase and hit those miracle 1 outers.
Personally I play on both but prefer FullTilt strictly for their 90 player knockout s&g's

Have never played for Flames tix! Anyway I like having a hockey player avatar provided by FullTilt. Sites vary to me based on what I'm playing. I have best luck with no limit holdem on Party Poker so far. I haven't been on PS much because I was trying to get credits from Bodog for coaching from PokerPwnage. For some reason I have to be really careful not to hit the wrong action button on Bodog. Probably because I'm half asleep. I think PokerStars has best security. Anyone been on UltimateBet or Mansion? Last I heard US res couldn't play on Mansion. I sometimes like to play other games on WildJack (playmoney,it's British) or Golden Casino. Golden Casino had an offer for some free play in a progressive slot tournament if you opened a real money account. They have 3 Card poker and some other variations of poker as well as slots, but no Hold"Em stud etc...except I think that's the one with Carribbean Stud and Pai Gow. In any case I won $350 from the slot thing. That was funny. But I don't use real money for that. In any case the slot games are fun. And they have video poker too which is possible to beat I guess, but it aggravates me.

As someone who works for and helps operate an online gambling site, I take great offense to that comment.
The amount of money put into random number generation and endless game auditing is enough to make your head spin.

Its only rigged because by just playing low blinds, and only playing AK through A10 sutied and pairs above 10 you are practically guarenteed to make about $10 bucks an hour. If they didn't prohibit bots and have good anti-bot measures I would make a ton of money with a very simple program
