But, but ... the Mayans can't be wrong. After all, they developed that really cool and super accurate calendar.

At any rate, come Dec. 21, 2012, it gives me a ready-made, handy dandy excuse to get all $hitfaced. I'd hate to think I wasted doomsday by not cheating my brain of a killer hangover.

Getting better all the time.

North Korea may launch a long-range ballistic missile towards Hawaii on American Independence Day, according to Japanese intelligence officials.
The missile, believed to be a Taepodong-2 with a range of up to 4,000 miles, would be launched in early July from the Dongchang-ni site on the north-western coast of the secretive country.
Intelligence analysts do not believe the device would be capable of hitting Hawaii's main islands, which are 4,500 miles from North Korea.
Details of the launch came from the Japan's best-selling newspaper, Yomiuri Shimbun.
Quote:
WASHINGTON – The United States has positioned more missile defenses around Hawaii as a precaution against a possible North Korean launch across the Pacific, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Thursday. "We do have some concerns if they were to launch a missile to the west in the direction of Hawaii," Gates said.

I don't understand how this country can threaten the USA. Don't they know that the states have already dropped a nuke on one of their neighbors?

Idiots..

They are playing chicken. Given

Do you honestly think in this day and age a President (of any party) could drop the nuke again. Add to this a left of centre Democratic President at the start of his first 4 years.

All politicians no matter what party they are in only want one thing. A second term in office - and dropping the nuke on NK if they havent attacked the US isnt a recipie for a second term for especially a Democratic president. Any politician would rather declare war and send US men and women to die than to drop the nuke.

Well its 15.21 on a Thursday and I work downtown Calgary.

The web is all I got. And it was only 6 minutes ago that it was even a foot note on the CNN.com portal.

Don't worry, CNN is still obsessing on the Iranian story.

They only mention the N Korea ship as one of the stories they'll have coming up, then its nothing but Iran Iran Iran.

Just as aside. The ship is probably only carrying little Gaisha dolls or rusty farm equipment or whatever. But the fact that CNN gives more coverage weight to the complete sham of a democracy in Iran than this, well its strange. For about 20 minutes they even had as their main story "Supreme Leader to address crowd" or some such BS.

I am not trying to hate on CNN (MSNBC yes), just its strange that they have been reporting this on TV for "hours" and just 10 miutes ago added it to their main portal site.

So it sounds as though this is simply a transport ship and can't actually launch missiles, correct? Instead, it's potentially carrying material to another would-be nuclear power? So who's the buyer? Iran? Another middle-eastern power? A south asian or african nation? Some non-governmental group?

I wonder if that huge floating radar is ready or not. My parents took a pic of it in Harbour when they were there in March. Strange looking white ball attached to what looked like an offshore oilrig.

I think there was a thread on it. I am no lazy to search though.
