Bell TV adds two Calgary HD stations
Bell TV is adding 6 new local HD stations come June 10. The only one that might interest me, since CTV and Global are pretty much just simsubs of American programming, is Montreal CBC so I can choose what hockey game I watch.

So 6 channels I'll never, ever watch. I despise Canadian HD channels, they only ruin good HD channels.

I see it as a trade off with CTV raising Cain about TV providers not paying for their services. This way at least more locals will get more exposure for their advertisers.

You know the thing is Oilkiller some of us can talk about Bell or other providers and take their good or bad points with some semblance of reasonableness. I use Bell but have often criticized them too because at times they can suck, but all you do is show your hate. This makes any comments you make on the subject, kind of worthless.

Really? By adding even more HD content than the competitors they are worse?
I guess if you are looking for less HD channels, inferior picture quality and the worst menu/guide/remote combination on the planet - then yes, Bell is terrible compared to Shaw.

Oh Jebus...lighten up guys.
Just more simsubs coming from Bell. But hey, enjoy 'em.
Don't come crying when your favourite HD show on ABC or NBC or whatever doesn't show up or gets cut off because Bell can't get their act together.

That sums it up.
Everytime I mention Shaw somewhere, there are several who come in, put them down and rant about how great Bell is, so just trying to level the playing field.

At least now I will have the option to watch the show in HD with comercials that might impact me. Rather than finding out that "NOBODY beats Bad Boys" I can see that Peters is giving away free shakes.

Bleh. Shaw's going to have to add them soon enough as well. They have to show the Canadian simsub if it's available.

A lot of people complain, but go call the CRTC or read all of their terms.

We have. We've also complained to the powers that be. I've gone all the way up the political ladder, including speaking to the Minister in charge.
Doesn't matter. It's all about the almighty dollar and corporations. Not about what the public wants.
Trust me, been there done that.

That's the funny thing. Now that I have the HDPVR I rarely use it for Network TV shows. If I record it, I put off watching it, then have to record the following week, then have more to watch so put it off longer. Next thing I know I have 5 hours of Lost in HD taking up a huge chunk of my hard drive. So I pretty much watch that kind of programming live now.
Before this announcement I was considering getting an HD antenna to get the signals OTA. Now I may not bother.

Really huh? We do that all the time, save up shows and watch them one after the other. Love doing this. Then you don't have to wait for next week. I do wish my Shaw PVR had a few more than 25 hours of HD content, but I have a Motorola box so I can't add on an external drive. Oh well...couldn't live without our PVR though. Watch what we want to watch and when and skip commercials. Could not do without it.

I wonder about that too. The way the present lineup is, there is no room for these new stations without a complete re-organization. Maybe this will be in conjunction with them going to 8psk and we'll see a few more speciality channels, hopefully in better quality.

The best thing I find with the HDPVR is watching the show 20 minutes later for example at 7:20 and catching up to the live show like for Lost.
