Default Sodium

So I was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on whether or not drinking a lot of water can reduce your sodium levels? I've looked on line quite a bit, but there's nothing that really says yes or no.

I know your liver removes sodium from your blood stream so if you pee a lot by drinking a lot of water are you removing excess sodium from your system? Thoughts?

Biologically, yes
Generally, your body is pretty good at regulating itself and there is no scientific evidence that you need 8 cups of water a day. However, the better way to reduce your sodium intake is through diet. A lot of processed food, bread, and cheeses contain high amounts of sodium.

Cans of soup are NOTHING.

Take a look at those quick and easy sauces for international foods - particularly Asian/South-East Asian. Monogolian Beef has 50!!!! percent of your daily sodium intake. 50! I was blown away. Kung Pao Chicken is close to that, too. They're the kind you get in the pouch. You make the vegetables, beef, etc, but cook it with the sauce. Ridiculous. Almost had a heart attack right there.

Yeah, that's why homemade/authentic Chinese food is still the best
Also, Asian people tend to eat enough rice to counter the fattiness and saltiness of the food when we go out to eat

I eat a lot of rice (girlfriend is Pakistani), but, man. 50 percent! Ridiculous. It pays to look at the ingredients, for sure. You think you're buying some cheddar cheese, but in reality you're buying some cheese along with 25 oher things. I read in a book awhile back that, really, you should look for foods at the store that have 5 or less ingredients on the wrapper (more often than not)- more than that, and you're taking in all sorts of weird ass stuff.

It was that book on the Daily Show... Forget the name, but it's good.
