Am I the only one who expected Troutman's response to be something to do with a Harry Chapin song?

How about Al Stewart?

Well, she looks at you so cooly
And her eyes shine like the moon in the sea
She comes in incense and patchouli
So you take her, to find what's waiting inside

The year of the cat

That's sad
She'll probably be able to become "human" (for a lack of a better word) after a lot of care and support, but depending if she was ever spoken to as a child, it may be too late for her to have the ability to talk since the brain at early childhood cuts connections for things that aren't used

"Police said the girl understands Russian but rarely speaks and they are gathering evidence to support neglect charges. "

She still had family who lived with her.... they just weren't very good family.

Now, this is an odd web-site:

http://www.feralchildren.com/en/index.php

Feral children, also known as wild children or wolf children, are children who've grown up with minimal human contact, or even none at all. They may have been raised by animals (often wolves) or somehow survived on their own. In some cases, children are confined and denied normal social interaction with other people.

Authenticity

Many cases of feral children are of doubtful authenticity; even recent ones, such as John Ssebunnya, are questioned by some. And at least a few of the children were autistic and/or mentally disabled, and not feral at all.

Warning: Neglect and Abuse

No matter how fascinating, scientifically interesting or even romantic some of these stories seem, it isn't much fun to be a feral child, wolf boy or wild girl.

I'm pretty sure Captain Crunch would beg to differ.
